Sheffield United vs Everton
Premier League
Bramall Lane
TNT Sports 1, Saturday, 12:30pm
Under 2.5 Goals
Heading into this weekend both Sheffield United and Everton were among the four teams currently on zero points in the Premier League, with Sheffield United’s -3 goal difference luckily putting them 17th and in safety.
Both teams are frankly terrible in front of goals. Sheffield United have scored two goals in three games, while Everton haven’t yet scored in the Premier League. It feels like both clubs are in trouble this season although it’s the Toffees who are in a full blown crisis now.
They have conceded a combined 11 goals between them but with such poor records in the final third I have to recommend backing Under 2.5 Goals here. This has 0-0 or 1-0 written all over it.
Benie Traore to Commit 1 or More Fouls
The 20-year old Ivorian arrived at Bramall Lane this summer after a couple of years at Hacken in Sweden, where he had a reasonable goalscoring record. He’s yet to score for the Blades but we’re more interested in his other stats. In particular, his record of committing fouls.
So far he’s started all three Premier League games for Sheffield United and has averaged a team high of 2.7 fouls per game. He’s enthusiastic and you can’t fault his desire to win the ball but he is rash in his play and gives the ref chances to blow for a foul. We’ll take the forward to concede at least one foul on Saturday.

Abdoulaye Doucoure to Commit 1 or More Fouls in Each Half
Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Tarkowski have committed the most fouls in Everton shirts this year, with only Dominic Calvert-Lewin committing a higher average. However, as we all know, you can never be sure on DCL’s fitness, so we can’t expect him to play here.
We’re going to be back Doucoure to commit a foul or more in each half. He averages 1.7 per game in the Premier League and has played the full 90 minutes of the previous three games and plays in the position most likely to commit fouls.
Given the importance of this game and that it already feels like a relegation six-pointer it won’t be a surprise if Sean Dyche has his team fired up and ready to go from kickoff.
James Garner to have 1 or More Shots
James Garner had a great summer for the England Under 21s, being part of the team that won the Under 21 European Championships but he’s had a harder time since returning to his club.
Sean Dyche has put his trust in the former Man Utd man and he’s probably been one of Everton’s better performers so far, although that perhaps isn’t too hard given the performances to date. He’s played right wing in all three Premier League games so far and has averaged a solid shot per game.
That trend should continue against a Sheffield United team who have faced 70 shots in three games so far. Yes, you read that correctly, 70 shots.
Over 4.5 Cards
The final leg of our Bet Builder is Over 4.5 Cards. As mentioned above, this might only be the fourth league game of the season for these clubs but with both sitting on zero points they absolutely must start picking up points soon. Not only that but both clubs will look at this as a game that they can win.
With that in mind I’m expecting a tough-tackling and ill-tempered game. Sheffield United have had 10 yellow cards so far this season with Everton racking up seven. I’m confident we’ll see them combine for Over 4.5 in this clash.
