Aston Villa v Hibernian
Europa Conference League Qualification Playoff
Villa Park 8pm
Streaming: Aston Villa’s TV
Managerless Hibernian travel to Villa Park on Thursday night in a bit of a shambles. They’ve now won just one of their last five fixtures in all competitions and their six-game run in the Conference League is going to come to an end tonight unless the football gods deliver an unlikely miracle.
Aston Villa have certainly put that 5-1 opening day thrashing at Newcastle in the Premier League behind them, they’ve scored 12 goals over their three games since and have conceded just one. Their job tonight is to just get through the game unscathed as they face a stern test at Anfield against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
We’re poured over the markets and the stats here and found the Three Best Bets, so let’s get straight into it.
Ollie Watkins First Goalscorer
Surprisingly, Ollie Watkins is yet to score in the Premier League this season, he scored 16 goals last season in all competitions but was red hot against Hibs in the first leg, scoring a hat trick.
Manager Unai Emery might be tempted to rest his England forward here but strikers need to be scoring goals and in facing Liverpool and Chelsea over the coming weeks he’s going to need Watkins at his best.
Should Watkins start he should get at least one and we think he’s going to be opening the scoring.

Both Teams to Score, No & Over 2.5 Goals
Will Hibs score? Well, they’ve only scored five goals over their three Premiership games so far so that’s not bad but we have to mention that Aston Villa have kept six clean sheets over their last eight games on home turf.
It’s like this, Hibs know their European days for the season are done and dusted unless they get an early goal and can push for it. So all Villa need to do is keep them scoreless for the first 10-15 minutes and then it’s all but wrapped up.
With Villa’s record of clean sheets we just can’t see their Scottish opponents scoring here. Villa have scored at least two goals in six of their last seven at home and we reckon they can go one better against a side who are already low on confidence.
John McGinn to have 1 or More Shots on Target
Former Hibs man, John McGinn has already scored a goal for Villa this season and the fiery Scot loves to take a pop from distance. With the away side likely going to be spending plenty of time defending deeply there should be plenty of space for the Scotland international to let rip from distance. Very decent odds here for him to land at least one shot on target.
