On Wednesday evening Rangers travel to Eindhoven to face off against PSV with a place in the Champions League Group stages at stake. Exactly like last year in the same fixture, at the same stage of the competition, the first leg finished 2-2 at Ibrox, and it was Rangers who progressed winning the away leg 1-0. PSV to win
No. history will not repeat itself. The Gers will be kicking themselves that they aren’t bringing at least a one goal advantage to the Philips Stadium after twice taking the lead last week. PSV have been in great form to start the season and were given the weekend off in the Eredivisie to prepare for this second-leg. We have them at 1/5 to qualify, but I reckon they get the job done in 90 minutes.
Both teams to score
I think this game will another one with a couple of goals and both teams to score is going straight into our bet builder. PSV while being undefeated so far this season, have trailed at the break in each of their last three games.
Rangers new look front three in Abdallah Sima, Nicolas Raskin & Danilo are sure to cause problems and can score for the visitors.
Luuk de Jong to score
Luuk de Jong has started the season strongly with five goals already, and scoring in each of his last three games. He scored the crucial equaliser for PSV in last weeks first leg and with the confidence he’s in, and his ability shown at this level over the years for PSV, he’s the man to have onside when picking out a goal scorer.
Rangers take 5 or more corners
Expecting PSV to win the tie, Rangers are going to have to go for it at some stage and pile forward to get back into the game. They can be frustrated by a PSV defence who may be sitting back, holding on to a slender lead, limiting Rangers to crosses into the box or set-pieces that can be deflected out for corners. I really like the price on the Gers to take at least five corners.
Over 4.5 cards
In such a huge game with massive implications for both teams, it’s going to be a feisty affair. The same fixture last season saw eight yellow cards.
When either team falls behind, they will be getting frustrated as they try to force a way back into the game with time running out on securing their place into the group stages.
We’ll be hoping PSV will be up to some time-wasting tricks and the referee punishes them towards the end of the tie as they hold on to a lead which can see our 19/1 bet-builder land!
