Crystal Palace v Arsenal
Premier League
Selhurst Park
TV: Sky Sports Football, 8pm
After a relentless opening day that just about saw Arsenal get over the line in a favourable matchup against Nottingham Forest, manager Mikel Arteta will have to prove that the Gunners can turn it up a notch against lesser opposition and this is the right time to make a statement.
Arsenal to Win
Arsenal are an incredibly functional unit and now that they have a ball carrier in midfield to spend less time getting the ball into the final third, as well as keeping it in situations while being pressed, they’ll be fine.
I can’t actually find a way in which they drop stupid points anymore and that lack of guaranteed comedic relief is upsetting to me.
Buyako Saka to Score Anytime
We’re at the stage where not only is Buyako Saka one of the best ‘young Arsenal types’, he’s progressed and emerged as a viable Man City transfer target, which should be the litmus test as to whether or not they can actually get Arsenal over the line.
Saka is both the best striker of a ball in this match, and the most accurate.
Cutting in from the right to fire home on his left is now the trademark, and if Crystal Palace want to crowd central areas and just deal with crosses like they normally do, he’ll have plenty of one-v-ones on the outside for him to take on.
Eberechi Eze to Have 1 or More Shots on Target
Palace had eight shots on target against Brentford last week, and the one thing we absolutely know about the Eagles, is that they’re a confidence team.
Arsenal’s possession-based formula means that they’ll likely lose the ball higher up the pitch than normal, so Edouard Eze won’t be isolated and he should get a few chances to shot on Monday night.

Kai Havertz to Commit 2 or More Fouls
Things you didn’t know: only Joelinton and Caicedo conceded more fouls than Kai Havertz in the Premier League last year.
He’s one of those players that just kind of gets away with it and nobody really knows why. Maybe it’s because he’s expensive but kind of useless. A bit like Oscar?
Both Teams to Score, No
However, the only teams that scored less often than Crystal Palace against Arsenal last season were Wolves and Newcastle. Their style really just doesn’t suit playing Arteta’s Gunners, and that’s now been further endorsed by the signings they’ve made this summer.
If this is close, it’s because Arsenal haven’t put it to bed.
