Saturday 3:00pm: Liverpool v Bournemouth
Liverpool to win & Both teams to score
Liverpool haven’t had the best of summers with almost every player they’ve tried to sign being snapped up by Chelsea. In their five pre-season games they conceded 10 goals, and they were lucky not to concede more than once at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
The way Chelsea ran through Liverpool’s midfield, it was obvious more defensive cover is needed in the middle of the park.
It looks like that cover is soon to arrive, with Japanese international Endo about to join from Stuttgart, but he is unlikely to feature on Saturday.
Liverpool should have too much fire power for Bournemouth and should be able to score three or four times, but I expect Bournemouth to have chances of their own and to get on the scoresheet against a fragile Liverpool defence.
Sunday 14:30pm: Aston Villa v Everton
Aston Villa -1
Both sides had difficult openings to the season last week. Villa were thumped 5-1 away to Newcastle whilst Everton slumped to a 1-0 home defeat to Fulham.
Villa were naïve at St James Park, continuing with their extremely high line that was exposed time after time in conceding their third, fourth & fifth goals. Conceding 4.32 xG is alarmingly high. Despite lots of injuries as well however, this is the perfect game for Villa to kick-start their season.

I really fear for Everton this season, especially after last weekends result. They have failed to address their problem of a severe lack of goals in the transfer window so far, and they’re likely to be embroiled in a serious relegation struggle once more.
Everton haven’t beaten Villa in their last 8 outings either which doesn’t bode well for the blue side of Merseyside.
Sunday 16:30pm: West Ham v Chelsea
Ben Chilwell to have 2 or more shots
Mauricio Pochettino’s new look Chelsea team were unfortunate to not take all three points in last weeks season opener against Liverpool. In an entertaining draw, both sides had goals ruled out after VAR intervention. Chelsea’s disallowed goal came from Ben Chilwell who took the captains armband off Reece James when James limped off through injury.
It was clear that Chilwell was given attacking freedom from Chelsea’s new coach, with the wing-back often Chelsea’s most advanced player up the flank. He also covered in the middle to nullify the threat of Trent Alexander-Arnold. He had one ‘official’ shot with his disallowed goal not counting, and he provided the assist for Chelsea’s equaliser.
I’m expecting Chilwell to be on free-kick duties as well, so for him to have two or more shots looks good value.
