Southampton to Win

Southampton’s Championship campaign continues on Saturday afternoon as Russell Martin’s side travel to Plymouth.

The Saints won their league opener at Sheffield Wednesday before their 4-4 draw at home against Norwich – and they’ll be desperate to get another win on the board.

Martin’s men have created plenty of chances so far this season and they’ve had most of the ball, with Southampton registering 18 shots on target in their two games, while also having 80 per cent and 70 per cent possession.

While Plymouth have impressed since getting promoted from League One by beating Huddersfield and drawing at Watford, it’s hard to see Southampton’s quality not shining through. We’re on an away win.

Both Teams to Score

While we like the look of a Southampton win, backing Both Teams to Score is also a smart pick.

The selection has landed in the Saints’ three games in all competitions this season and we’re hoping that continues on Saturday.

Southampton look nailed on to score and so it all seems to be on Plymouth netting.

Plymouth netted three in their league opener and they’re averaging six shots on target so far this campaign. Steven Schumacher’s men will fancy their chances of scoring, especially considering Southampton conceded four last week.

Adam Armstrong to Score Anytime

We’re expecting goals on Saturday afternoon so backing Adam Armstrong to Score Anytime makes sense.

He comes into the Plymouth clash on the back of his brace against Norwich last week, which took his tally to three goal in two Championship matches.

Armstrong is averaging four shots per game under Martin and we fancy one of those efforts to fly in.

Over 4.5 Southampton Corners

Southampton have been dominating in the corners department in the Championship, with the Saints taking 18 in their first two games.

Martin’s side have had all of the ball and that’s led to plenty of created chances, as well as corner kicks.

We’ve mentioned their shots on target stats but Southampton’s completed passes numbers are outrageous. They had 987 (compared to Sheffield Wednesday’s 236) and 709 (compared to Norwich’s 307) in their previous two games.

Southampton Corner Match Bet

All of the reasons why we fancy Southampton in the Corner Match Bet market are pretty much explained above.

Added to that is that Plymouth have struggled to get corners in the Championship.

They took just two corners in their first home game against Huddersfield before taking three in their draw at Watford. Their 2.5 corners per game average will not be enough to beat Southampton in this market.
