Picture the scene, it’s Saturday, you’ve either watched your club or you’ve sat in front of a screen enjoying the Premier League action. It doesn’t need to end there though, we’ve got some really exciting games in the evening to get stuck into.
Firstly, the German Super Cup with Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig. This is the curtain raiser for the fresh season in Germany and gives us a chance to see exactly why Bayern Munich want Harry Kane so much. It also gives RB Leipzig the chance to see how their attack looks with Christopher Nkunku having left for Chelsea.
Then we have Athletic Bilbao welcoming the new look Real Madrid to town. Real have splashed the cash this summer and it’s going to be fascinating seeing how they blend the the youth of Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga into their midfield alongside Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

RB Leipzig To Lift The Cup
We’re starting off with a big odds bet, we’re backing RB Leipzig to lift the cup. I think Leipzig are a huge price here given what we know of the two clubs. Last season just five points separated these clubs in the Bundesliga. Admittedly Leipzig have lost both Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea and Konrad Laimer to Saturday’s opponents Bayern Munich, but this Bayern team has some flaws.
Firstly, Manuel Neuer is still not back in goal since his horrific skiing accident and Sven Ulrich is simply not at his level. Then they’re going to have to deal with a new-look backline as Kim Min-Jae settles into the team having arrived from Napoli. To top it all off it looks like Thomas Muller and Eric Choupo-Moting are both doubts for the game.
That could leave Mathys Tel as the front man. He’s a good young player but it really shows just why the Bavarian’s are so desperate to land Harry Kane. Given all those areas of doubt I’m going to take the RB Leipzig team who feel more settled and who might just have signed one of the strikers of the future this summer. We’ll kick off with RB Leipzig To Lift The Cup.
Benjamin Sesko To Score Anytime
Benjamin Sesko arrived from sister-club RB Salzburg this season and I’m really expecting big things from the Slovenian. The developed hugely last season, scoring 16 goals in 30 games in the Austrian Bundesliga. Those feats saw some of Europe’s biggest clubs look at him and we’ve seen previously just how good RB Salzburg are at finding strikers with Erling Haaland springing to mind.
He’s still just 20 years-old but I’m expecting his campaign to start with a bang here as he partners Timo Werner up front. He’s a big physical presence, with speed and a great finish, something that will cause Bayern problems. Benjamin Sesko To Score Anytime is a good play here.
Both Bilbao and Real’s La Liga campaigns start this Saturday and, despite a poor season for Los Blancos last year, they still finished 27 points ahead of the Basque team. The loss of Karim Benzema will undoubtedly be an issue for Real Madrid this season but they’ve done good business in the transfer window.
Real Madrid to Win
Jude Bellingham looks like he was born to play in the white of Real Madrid and I’m expecting him to excel here. Carlo Ancelotti has given us the expectation that we’ll see a youthful midfield so expect to see the future with Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga and maybe Aurelien Tchouameni start with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos on the bench.
The quality in Real Madrid’s team, not least in the changes that they could make with their bench, are enough to ensure that Real Madrid Win here and get off to the perfect start.
Under 3.5 goals
Despite my confidence in Real’s ability to get the job done I still have concerns over a lack of goals in the team. Karim Benzema hasn’t been replaced adequately with Joselu the only incoming up front while the club wait for Kylian Mbappe.
Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior are both talented but I’m not sure either of them are capable of playing a full season down the middle as a centre-forward. I think given that we’re likely to see just one or two goals for Los Blancos on Saturday, with the hosts potentially bagging one if they’re lucky. With that in mind we’ll take Under 3.5 goals here just to add a little more value into our multi-match Bet Builder.
