You look at games like this and you think, somebody’s surely hand-picked it at Sky Sports! You look at it and think what are going to be the really meaty games and, lo and behold, this is probably one of the most sentimental fixtures of the weekend.
It’s Vincent Kompany facing his old side Manchester City. He did face them in the FA Cup last year and Burnley got beaten 5-0. I think it will be a bit closer at Turf Moor.
Burnley will be looking to build this year, they did really well last term. I was absolutely shocked at how quickly Kompany lowered the age of the squad, while starting to play some wonderful, attacking football.
Maybe that will play into Manchester City’s hands, though. City are unbelievable as we know and they’ve just signed the £90m centre back Josko Gvardiol and that’s just going to make them even stronger.
They will score shed loads of goals from set plays as well this season. Gvardiol is unbelievable in the air, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji, John Stones, Rodri… they will be so, so dangerous from set pieces this season.

Man City to Win
I have to predict a Manchester City Win as you would have guessed. They lost the Community Shield last season and they lost this time around but in 2022/23 they went on to win four of their first five Premier League matches and I think we could be on for something similar here.
Over 3.5 Goals
I’ll go for a Man City victory but I do think Both Teams Will Score and I’ll go 1-3 to Manchester City, so I’ll back Over 3.5 Goals.
Erling Haaland to Score
Julian Alvarez started at the weekend but I think City will go with just Erling Haaland up front on his own here and you have to back Haaland to Score Anytime. He did himself proud last year and I can’t see any reason why he won’t keep banging them in.
Kevin De Bruyne Anytime Assist
I’ll also add Kevin De Bruyne to grab an Anytime Assist.
