- EH, PADDY – WHAT THE HELL IS A MULTI-MATCH BET BUILDER? LET US EXPLAIN RIGHT HERE!
Some of the elite leagues in European Football begin their seasons this Friday evening, and our resident trader Brian McDonnell has a 11/1 Multi-Match Bet Builder to dig into ahead of the season’s launch.
Burnley v Man City
Man City -1
Two champions collide on Friday night as the Premier League Champions Man City travel to last season’s Championship winners Burnley to kick off the Premier League season. It’s the toughest of starts imaginable for Pep Guardiola’s former captain Vincent Kompany whose Burnley side tore the Championship apart last season.
Man City come into this off the back of a perfect season, winning the treble and the Citizens are also perfect in each of their five previous opening day fixtures under Pep, winning each of his five previous opening day matches in charge.
These sides met in the FA Cup last season with City running out 6-0 winners and while this one should be closer, expect Man City to win this by at least two goals.
Under 3.5 Cards
A lot of attention was caught last week thanks to the new EFL directives of increased focus on cards for timewasting. While we did see a large increase compared to previous seasons, I don’t expect many cards to be dished out in this one.
In each of the last three meetings between Burnley and City, there’s been one yellow card handed out. The prices have been adjusted to suggest more cards will be expected, but I feel the value lies with the Under 3.5 Cards at odds against.
Nice v Lille
Both Teams to Score
To France now where there appears to be a bit of optimism among the chasing pack that PSG can be toppled this season. Two of those hoping to be up there in May kick off the campaign on Friday night in Nice.
The hosts finished 9th last season and haven’t had the best of pre-seasons with one win from five outings. Nice have a decent recent record against the visitors though, beating Lille in three of their last four outings.
Lille secured Europa League qualification at the back end of last season and will be looking to get off to a perfect start here. As favorites, I think they are too short in the match betting, with the most likely outcome for me a cagey 1-1 draw. I’m going with Both Teams to Score.

Sevilla v Valencia
Sevilla to Win
Sevilla are off the back of a roller coaster campaign in which managers Julian Lopetegui and then Jorge Sampaoli were sacked before caretaker manager Jose Mendilibar came in and took Sevilla to their 7th Europa League title.
Mendilibar has now been given the role on a full time basis and can get Sevilla off to a perfect start on Friday against a Valencia team who were lucky to avoid the drop last season.
Valencia have seen a lot of their starting team from last season leave over the summer with little in the way of big replacements. Edinson Cavani, Justin Kluivert, Nico Gonzalez and Ilaix Moriba have all left the club. It remains to be seen if they’ll be adequately replaced before the transfer window shuts and I think Valencia will struggle if reinforcements don’t arrive.
Under 3.5 Goals
Only twice in the last 14 meetings between the sides has this fixture produced more than three goals. The opening day of the season will be cagey and I struggle to see Valencia posing much of a threat against Sevilla’s defence.
I think this will be a low scoring affair which Sevilla will nick 1-0 or 2-0. We have the added insurance of an extra goal in there as well with the Under 3.5 Goals line.
