Just four games stand in the way of these sides getting into the Champions League proper in September. Both teams are a couple of games into their league seasons and both were involved in the previous round of the Conference League Qualifiers. The market very much fancies the home side here, the Belgian league ranks as the eighth best in Europe, while Poland’s is down in 21st. Both teams have been very much among the goals over their four games so far with Gent scoring 14 and Pogon scoring 11. Over 2.5 Goals has the value here.

Slovan Bratislava v Maccabi Haifa – Over 2.5 Goals

Bratislava have played six games so far this season, four of which were in Europe while Maccabi have played five, four of which were in Europe. A little like the above match, the Israeli league ranks far higher up the charts than the Slovakian one but Slovan at home won’t be an easy nut to crack and should be scoring at least one. Haifa beat Juventus last season and scored two away to PSG in the Champions League so having nothing to fear. Both should be scoring here and we should see at least a third goal too.
Bristol City v Oxford – Bristol City to Win
Gate Stadium, 7:45pm
Bristol City began their Championship season with a 1-1 home draw with Preston while Oxford were 2-0 losers away to Cambridge in League One. Hard to see the away side getting much here, they’ve won just one of their last eight away competitive games while the hosts have lost just one of their last six at Ashton Gate. With those records we have to side with the Robins.
Ipswich v Bristol Rovers – Ipswich to Win
Portman Road, 7:45pm
Ipswich beat Sunderland 1-2 in their opening Championship game over the weekend while Bristol Rovers drew 1-1 away to Portsmouth in League One thanks to a 93rd minute goal for the hosts. With the hosts scoring 14 over their last three home games and Rovers netting just two over their last five away competitive fixtures, we have to back the home side.
Leeds v Shrewsbury – Leeds -1
Elland Road, 7:45pm
Leeds began their return to the Championship with a 2-2 draw at home to Cardiff while Shrewsbury beat Cheltenham 1-0 in League One. The hosts are very much the favourites here and the away side have won none of their last eight away competitive fixtures and only scored in three of those matches as well. Leeds should win this without much hassle so we’re backing them to win by at least two goals.
