Michael Beale’s Rangers are just four games away from the Champions League proper but must overcome Switzerland’s Servette first. They’ve very much the favourites with the betting public but we’ve dug into the stats to find four value picks for our Bet Builder here.

You can see from the betting odds that Rangers are very much the favourites here. And that’s fair enough but they were beaten by Kilmarnock in their opening game of the Premiership season over the weekend and in four of their five pre-season friendlies they conceded at least a goal as well. Servette are no pushovers, they came second in the Swiss Super League and only lost six of their league games last season. Both Teams to Score has landed in all five of their games this season and we think that’s the best place to start here.

The onus will be on the hosts to get something positive here, they’re obviously not going to want to be in a situation where they have to chase a result in Switzerland next week. They’ll also be well aware that the winners of the tie will face a tricky test in PSV Eindhoven. If all goes to plan for Rangers then, they’ll want this game put to bed early doors. The away side will be all too aware of this and will surely be prepared to weather a storm and sit back. For us then, this tends to mean a decent amount of corners.
Gers averaged eight corners per home league game last season, they should hit that again while the away side should chalk up at least a couple.

Over 2.5 Servette Cards
The Swiss have a bit of a naughty streak in them. Of their last 10 games they’ve averaged 2.4 cards per game and over their last two European games actually picked up 10 yellow cards and one red one. With them probably surrendering possession here they’re likely going to have to bring down the odd player of three and with their less-than-ideal disciplinary record we can certainly see them getting three bookings.
2-1 Correct Score
While they did just lose six games in the league last season, Servette lost five of them on their travels and they didn’t exactly score a ton of goals last time out too. Rangers have more firepower in their ranks and having the first leg at home you’d have to expect them to score at least two. We’ve already made a case for Both Teams to Score landing so we’re most likely looking at a 2-1 result here.
