Thursday’s football fixtures find us prowling for value in the Europa Conference League Qualifiers involving Irish and British sides, we have seven games here so let’s get straight into it, starting with KuPS taking on Derry City.
KuPS v Derry City – Both Teams to Score
Kuopion Keskuskentän tekonurmi, Kuopio, 5pm
Derry hold a slender 1-2 lead over their Finnish opponents thanks to a first leg win in Derry last week. Both sides are mid-season so fitness levels are going to be pretty much on par but it’s the Irish side who are in the better form, winning four of their last five games while the hosts have won just one of their last five. They are strong at home however, winning three of their last five so you’d have to expect to see Both Teams to Score landing.
Pogon Szczecin v Linfield – Over 2.5 Goals
Stadion Miejski im. Floriana Krygiera, Szczecin, 5pm
Poland’s Pogon Szczecin were very much deserving winners of the 2-5 first leg and are very short odds to do the business again on home soil. The question is whether their Northern Irish opponents will score here. Pogon don’t keep many clean sheets at home and while Linfield do usually score on the road there’s quite the gap in quality between their respective domestic league.
Over 2.5 goals has landed in seven of Szczecin’s last eight home games however and that’s the trend we should be exploiting here.
Rosenborg v Crusaders – Rosenborg to Win & Over 2.5 Goals
Lerkendal Stadion, Trondheim, 6pm
At 2-2 this tie is evenly poised but the market very much favours the Norwegian hosts. They’re also 17 games into their league season while Crusaders have only played three games so far.
The hosts have scored nine over their last five games and 10 over their last five at home so should come out on top but there are plenty of goals in this Crusaders side so it really wouldn’t be surprising if they draw some blood here. Rosenborg to Win & Over 2.5 Goals has the value here.

Hibernian v Inter Escaldes – Over 2.5 Goals
Easter Road Stadium, Edinburgh, 7:15pm
Andorra’s Inter Escaldes pulled off the shock of the round last week in beating Hibs 2-1 but it’s the Scots who are very much favourites here. They have won the Andorran league for the third season in-a-row though so aren’t mugs at all. Hibs prepared for this game with a 3-0 friendly loss to Blackpool. The away side shouldn’t win here but they could well grab a goal against a Hibs side who already look low on confidence. They should, though, at least get two goals, so we’re looking at Over 2.5 Goals here.
Larne v Ballkani – Under 2.5 Goals
Inver Park, Larne, 7:30pm
Northern Ireland’s Larne are three down to their Kosovo opponents Ballkani. Both sides have only been in European action thus far this season but the away side have already beaten Ludogorets 2-0, although they lost the second leg 4-0.
Ballkani don’t really need to do much here other than keep it tight for the first half and don’t allow Larne to score and the hosts have scored in just two of their last five fixtures so we’re very much unlikely to see loads of goals.
Dundalk v KA Akureyri – Over 2.5 Goals
Oriel Park, Dundalk, 7:45pm
Dundalk have a task on their hands if they’re to overturn the 3-1 defeat they suffered in the first leg. Their home form should stand to them though as they’ve lost just one of their last 10 at Oriel Park. KA, however, are no pushovers, they’re undefeated over their last six and have scored six goals over their last two away games.
The hosts have to go for it while a goal for the away side should end it, meaning we should see at least three goals here.
Shamrock Rovers v Ferencvaros – Under 2.5 Goals
Tallaght Stadium, Dublin, 8pm
They might be sitting atop of the League of Ireland but Shamrock Rovers have scored just one goal over their last five fixtures and with the opposition four goals up here all they’ve got to do is keep a Rovers side who can’t seem to score from scoring. Ferencvaros will sit back and take whatever’s thrown at them here but Rovers won’t have enough. We’re not likely to see three goals.
