- EH, PADDY – WHAT THE HELL IS A MULTI-MATCH BET BUILDER? LET US EXPLAIN RIGHT HERE!
We all know that the launch of tournament football is exciting. We understand that the first kick of the ball is a riveting experience that everyone gets really riled up for and it feels like that fire inside you will burn for weeks on-end.
Well, we also know that not everything lasts forever, as we wade through the tedious elements of middle group games. But we’re here now – waiting for the last sixteen to be finalised and where every game has a permutation.
This is actual tournament football, and there’s nothing quite like the tension of the final game of the groups.
Argentina v Sweden – Under 2.5 Goals
Waikato Stadium, Hamilton, 8am
TV: BBC, 8am
It is impossible for Sweden to be at full pelt here and the reason is because they can’t possibly want to win this game.
I understand coaches will end up spouting how they need to look after themselves, but winning this game means you’re playing the US after Carli Lloyd hammered them post-Portugal as opposed to the Netherlands who pose an easier passage through to the quarter finals.
They may well end up winning this game by default, but there is no way on earth that Sweden will be going gung-ho, so take Under 2.5 Goals.
South Africa v Italy – Cristiana Girelli to Have Two or More Shots on Target
Wellington Regional Stadium, Wellington, 8am
TV: BBC, RTE 2, 8am
Italy are a shoot-on-sight outfit. Even in their 5-0 hammering at the hands of Sweden they took an outrageous twelve shots despite not having very long on the ball. It’s just their policy.
Cristiana Girelli is the heart and soul of Italy in the final third and became just the third player to break the 50-goal mark for her nation. South Africa need to win this game, which means her opportunities should come with more space than she’s otherwise accustomed to in qualifiers.

Jamaica v Brazil – Ary Borges to Score Anytime
Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, Melbourne
TV: ITV, RTE 2, 11am
If you think of Brazilian goalscorers, you generally go to the legends that are Marta and Debinha. And it appears that’s what our traders have also opted for.
But the new generation of Brazilians are why no team will feel comfortable facing them in the knockout rounds. And I say that quite confidently because, despite being third as of right now, they’re just a win over Jamaica away from qualifying – meaning they’re all guns blazing from the off here.
When they need to be creative, Ary Borges is always the one they turn to as exhibited in her opening game.

Panama v France – Over 3.5 Goals & Kadidiatou Diani to Score Anytime
Sydney Football Stadium, Sydney
TV: ITV, 11am
There’s a good chance that Panama are the worst team at the World Cup, and that’s almost a compliment to the tournament in general, because they’ve been far from appalling.
But France could have hammered any average team, knowing that a win sees them win the group. It’s therefore a perfect marriage to predict an onslaught early doors, before France pull three key players and rest them for the big one in a few days time.
That hiccup against Jamaica has really turned them into the fiery unit they absolutely weren’t last summer based on their intensity against Brazil.
