Switzerland v Norway Women’s World Cup 2023, Group A Waikato Stadium, Hamilton, Tuesday, 9am
ITV/ STV/ RTE2
Both Teams to Score
Typically, Norway would very much be the favourites here but their form has taken leave of itself as they continue to plummet down the FIFA Rankings. They’ve now won just one of their last eight games, the most surprising result of which was the 1-0 loss they suffered on the opening day of the tournament to co-hosts New Zealand. A bad result here would surely mean elimination so they’re going to have to up their game. The good new however, is that against Switzerland they’ve scored in all three of their recent games and recently put three past Sweden and two past Spain so should be scoring.
The Swiss have scored five over their last five fixtures and also scored in all three of their previous games against Norway and a win would see them qualify so the Both Teams to Score market has plenty of value here.
Caroline Graham Hansen to Score Anytime
Barcelona’s Caroline Graham Hasen comes into this game on the back of scoring 11 in 13 appearances for the Catalans in the league this season, as well as two in the Champions League and five over her six appearances over Norway’s qualification campaign.
Her experience against a Swiss side who have only kept two clean sheets over their last nine games will surely be evident here and in such hot form we have to back her to hit the back of the net on Tuesday morning.
Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic to have 1 or More Shots on Target
Switzerland’s main threat also comes from a Barcelona player; Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic, she scored eight goals and created six over 29 appearances and for the National side scored nine in 11 over their qualification games. Coming in off of the wing she’ll be shooting on sight.
Piling over the stats for the defenders for both sides it became fairly obvious that we’re very much dealing with two squeaky-clean defences here. Neither side has any player who regularly picks up many cards and with the sides picking up just five and three cards over their last five respective games we’re very unlikely to see many names being taken here.
