We’re all over Friday’s Women’s World Cup action and the first match in focus is Nigeria v Canada, however, instead of picking winners, were backing Anytime Scorers.
Canada’s Christine Sinclair is our first selection and it’s no surprise considering she’s netted a record 190 goals for her country.
Sinclair is playing in her sixth World Cup and she’s scored at the previous five tournaments.
The 40-year-old, who plays for Portland Thorns, faces Nigeria in her first game and she’ll be confident of adding to her stunning goal tally for Canada.
Now we turn our attention to Philippines v Switzerland – and we’ve got a couple of goalscorer picks in this one.
Firstly, we fancy Ramona Bachmann to Score Anytime. Switzerland are nailed on to win, with Philippines a hefty double figure price, so Bachmann and Co. will have plenty of chances to get on the scoresheet.
Bachmann, who netted nine times for PSG last season, will lead the line for Switzerland and she’s already scored 57 times for her country. She can make that 58 on Friday.
Alisha Lehmann to Score Anytime
We also like the look of Alisha Lehmann to Score Anytime. Like Bachmann, the Aston Villa winger is crucial to Switzerland’s success.
Lehmann netted five times for Villa in the WSL last season and she scored twice in Switzerland’s World Cup qualifiers.
She will feature on the right wing and Lehmann will want to kick off her World Cup campaign by getting on the scoresheet against the Philippines.
Our final game in focus is Spain v Costa Rica, which seems a guaranteed win for Jorge Vilda’s side – and we like Alexia Putellas to Score Anytime.
Putellas is Spain’s star and even though she didn’t feature much last season after coming back from injury, the Barcelona playmaker can get on the scoresheet on Friday.
The two-time Ballon d’Or winner, who missed the last Euros, scored after just 22 minutes on her first appearance for Spain this year in June.
If she starts, she will likely score. The only doubt is whether Vilda risks her from the off.
Esther Gonzalez to Score Anytime
Our final selection is Esther Gonzalez to Score Anytime.
Gonzalez, who is Real Madrid’s all-time women’s leading goalscorer, has a fine record for Spain.
She’s netted 23 times in 35 appearances for her country and she’ll be expecting to add to that at the World Cup this summer.
