Airdrieonians v Dundee – Dundee to Win
We kick off our Saturday 3pm Scottish League Cup acca with a Premiership v Championship affair as Dundee head to Airdrieonians. Both sides won their opening game, the hosts 2-0 over Dumbarton and the visitors 1-0 at Bonnyrigg Rose, and both were promoted last season.
There isn’t much recent history between the two but Dundee did smash The Diamonds in the FA Cup 6-2 last season. With Dundee back in the top flight and stronger than last year we’re getting a great price on Dundee to Win.
Alloa v St Johnstone – St Johnstone to Win
St Johnstone need a win against Alloa of League One after going down 1-0 at Stenhousemuir in their opening game. Alloa also lost with Stirling beating them 2-1 at Indodrill.
These two haven’t faced each other in competitive action for ages so we’ll simply have have to factor in each side’s quality compared to the other and the away side should be winning this. They need the points if they’re to progress from the group so we’ll back them to do so and for St Johnstone to Win.

Livingston v Hamilton – Livingston (-1)
Premiership Livingston host League One Hamilton next and the latter have already won both of their group games so far. Livi bashed Brechin 3-0 away from home in their sole contest in this competition while The Accies beat the same side 1-0 at home last time out and opened up with a 3-1 win at Clyde.
Hamilton slumped into the third tier last term while Livi consolidated nicely in the Premiership in 2022/23. This should be an easy home win, especially when you tie in the form of those two Brechin games. At the prices I think Livingston (-1) is good value.
St Mirren v Arbroath – Under 2.5 Goals
We’ll finish off with another top v second tier duel as Arbroath travel to St Mirren. The hosts were solid on the top tier last term while The Red Lichties just about avoided relegation to League One. These two faced each other at this venue in this competition last term and it was the lower-ranked side that caused a shock on that day, with Arbroath winning 1-0.
St Mirren have kicked off this year with a 1-0 loss to Montrose of the third tier so we can’t back them with any confidence. Arbroath had a disappointing 1-1 themselves with non-league Cowdenbeath so picking a result looks fraught with danger. Instead, I think Under 2.5 Goals might be the play. Both are starting the season in low confidence and this could be a dour stalemate.
