22- ACCA CRACKER - NEW CAP 1024

Scottish football makes a welcome return on Saturday afternoon with the Group Stages of the League Cup. We’ve picked out six of the best fixtures and found a value-stuffed Acca. Let’s get straight into it.

Airdrieonians v Dumbarton

Excelsior Stadium, Airdrie, 3pm

Air to Win
Airdrieonians will be eager to get three points on the board here in what might be a tricky Group E. The Championship side face League Two’s Dumbarton here, a side who have won just one of their last five away competitive games. The hosts have scored a mammoth 25 goals over their last seven at home so we just have to back them.

Clyde v Hamilton

ZLX Stadium, Hamilton, 3pm

Both Teams to Score
League Two v League One here in Group C where both sides should be aiming for top spot. The away side had a good win over Welsh champions The New Saints last week and face a Clyde side who have conceded in eight of their last 10 home competitive fixtures. The hosts should be winning here but the smart money goes on a Both Teams to Score pick.

Elgin City v Motherwell

Borough Briggs, Elgin, 3pm

Both Teams to Score
There’s little doubt with the market that the Premiership side should be winning here but the hosts will certainly raise their game. They’re decent enough on home soil, winning three of their last five, drawing one and losing one, scoring 10 and conceding five. Motherwell scored nine over their last five on their competitive travels so we’re going with the value in the Both Teams to Score market.

Kilmarnock v Annan

The BBSP Stadium, Kilmarnock, 3pm

Kilmarnock -1
Killie, as the Premiership team should be winning this at a canter, they’ve won three of their last five at home in the league, scoring eight while conceding seven, four of those however. were against league champions Celtic.

Annan have only had one pre-season friendly to Kilmarknock’s three and while their away results are decent (two wins, one draw and a loss) the gulf in quality should be quite evident here and with the hosts ending the season in good goal-scoring form we can certainly see them winning by at least two goals.

Stenhousemuir v St Johnstone

Ochilview Park, Stenhousemuir, 3pm

Both Teams to Score
Stenhousemuir have scored seven goals over their three pre-season games and 12 over their last nine at home so you’d have to expect them to score against the Premiership’s St Johnstone. While they have netted 10 over their last five, which includes two friendlies. Both Teams to Score makes sense here.

Stirling v Ayr

Forthbank Stadium, 3pm

Both Teams to Score
Recently promoted to League One, Stirling Albion face a tough test against Championship side Ayr United. They were solid at home last season however, scoring 10 over their last five while Ayr’s last five away competitive fixtures saw them scoring four goals against tougher opposition. The market fancies an Ayr win but we prefer the odds on a Both Teams to Score pick, a bet that would have paid out in six of Stirling’s last eight home matches.
