For Sunday night’s football we’ve dug deep into the Brazilian Serie A where there are some very tasty fixtures and we look at the USA’s final pre-World Cup game as they take on Wales before heading Down Under.
RB Bragantino v Sao Paulo
Estadio Nabi Abi Chedid, Sao Paulo, 8pm TV: Viaplay, 2pm
Bragantino to Win
Bragantino have been in very strong form of late, winning all five of their most recent fixtures, keeping three clean sheets in the process. Sao Paulo’s results look good at first glance with four wins and one loss over their last five but they’ve won none of their last six away Serie A matchups. With the hosts winning four of their last five home league games to nil we have to back them here.
Eduardo Sasha to Score Anytime
Brazilian journeyman, Eduardo Sasha has 11 goals over his 18 games since joining Bragantino, scoring two over his last four at home in the league and four over his last five in all competitions. In such good form we’re getting some great odds here for him to score yet again.
Fluminense v Internacional
Maracana, Rio de Janeiro, 8pm
Both Teams to Score
Both teams looked pretty evenly matched here. The hosts have won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five in the Serie A, while at home have won six and drawn two over their last eight. Internacional are unbeaten over their last six in the league while on their travels have won two, drawn one and lost two, scoring in all but one of those games. Both Teams to Score has the value here.
USA -2
The US Women’s team finish off their pre-World Cup friendlies by welcoming Wales to San Jose where the Welsh will surely suffer from the weather conditions. The Americans have conceded in just one of their last five on home soil so it’s hard to see Wales drawing any blood here.
The away side also haven’t played a game since a 1-1 draw away to Portugal back in April so are going to be a tad rusty and, of course, the heat will be a factor too. The American’s are going to use this game to iron out any final kinks before their World Cup campaign begins in a fortnight so we expect them to come out all guns a-blazing. They have more than enough to win this by three goals or more.
Gremio v Botafogo
Arena do Gremio, Porto Alegre, 10:30pm
Both Teams to Score
Botafogo already have a seven point lead at the top of the table, Gremio are behind them in second place and while it’s still early days there’s a feeling that they have to win here to stay close to them. Both teams have won four of their last five in the league with the hosts now going seven undefeated at home this season, winning four and drawing one of their last five.
Bota have won three and lost two of their last five on the road so you’d be tempted to go with the hosts. However, they’ve only lost two of their last 10 in the Serie A so we should err on the side of caution here and we’ll go with a Both Teams to Score bet.
