Wednesday 8pm: Spain v Ukraine Euro 2023 Under 21 Championship Semi Final TV: UEFA.tv
Over 2.5 Goals
We’re into the semi-finals of the Under-21 Euro Championships and we’re focusing on Spain v Ukraine, where the winner will play either Israel or England in the final.
Ukraine have been one of the surprise packages of the tournament and they knocked out France in the quarter-finals. They come up against Spain, who were one of the pre-tournament favourites.
We’re not backing a winner, we’re on the hunt for goals instead. These teams played each other in the group stages and it finished 2-2, so we’re hoping for more of the same.
Spain and Ukraine are the joint-top scorers in the tournament on eight goals in four matches. Backing Over 2.5 Goals makes plenty of sense.
Abel Ruiz to Have 2 or More Shots
We like the look of goals and Abel Ruiz is Spain’s joint-top scorer at the tournament so far.
However, instead of backing the forward to net, we’re going to be safe and get on Ruiz to Have 2 or More Shots.
He’s already registered 13 shots in his four matches so far so he’s averaging 3.25 shots per game.
The bonus of backing him to have a shot and not a shot on target is that it can go in Row Z or for a throw in and it still counts – ideal!
Oleksii Kashchuk to Have 2 or More Shots
We fancy Ruiz to have a couple of efforts on goal for Spain and we’re expecting Oleksii Kashchuk to be the man for Ukraine.
The attacking midfielder has had eight shots in his four games so far, with four of them going on target.
Kashchuk is averaging two shots per game and we’re backing him to hit his average on Wednesday night.
Over 4.5 Cards
With a spot in the final on the line, we’re expecting there to be plenty of fouls and cards.
Spain’s quarter-final win against Switzerland last time out saw seven yellow cards dished out, while Ukraine’s victory against France had five yellows.
Spain average just over 14 fouls per game at the tournament, while Ukraine’s tally is 11. We like the look of Over 4.5 Cards.
Victor Gomez to Commit 2 or More Fouls
We’ve mentioned we like the look of fouls and cards and Victor Gomez has committed the most fouls for Spain.
The defender has registered seven fouls in three appearances, while picking up one yellow card.
Gomez to Commit 2 or More Fouls is a good value selection as he’ll be busy against a tidy Ukraine attack that has scored eight goals in four games.
