Germany to Win
Germany’s U21s have been extremely disappointing in the Euros to date and would be huge underdogs in a game against a formidable English side under different circumstances.
England have been flawless in their two games at the tournament so far, winning both games to book their passage to the last eight as group winners.
They will almost certainly field a weakened side against the Germans, giving their most important players a much-needed break ahead of the knockout stages.
Germany, on the other hand, need to win and hope that Israel beat the Czech Republic to have any chance of reaching the knockout stages.
Their failure to beat 10-man Israel in their opening game despite missing two penalties left them with an uphill task to make it out of the group. Meanwhile their late defeat against the Czech Republic despite having 28 shots on goal has left their qualification hopes hanging by a thread.
Ordinarily, they would have little hope of beating such a formidable England side, but they have far more reason to win this game than their opponents and will likely be fielding a far stronger team as well.
They might just give themselves a chance of qualifying.
Youssoufa Moukoko to Score Anytime
Youssoufa Moukoko entered the Euros as one of the hottest prospects in Europe but has so far failed to deliver.
The 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund striker missed one of Germany’s two penalties in their group opener against Israel and missed out entirely in their defeat against the Czech Republic.
However, he is clearly one of the most talented forwards at the competition.
Moukoko scored seven times in 11 Bundesliga starts last season and made an appearance at the World Cup in Qatar.
He is an incredible asset for an U21 side and could cause real damage against an understrength English side.
Germany have scored and conceded in both of their games at the Euros so far, attempting 45 shots in their two games so far.
On the other hand, they have conceded three times while dominating games, exposing their defensive frailties in the process.
England, meanwhile, have yet to concede in the tournament, winning both of their games 2-0.
However, they are coming up against a German side that will go after them from the first minute. Their defence is also likely to be weakened ahead of a quarter-final fixture.
At the other end, England possess more than enough quality to hurt a vulnerable German defence, even if they rotate their attacking options.
Cameron Archer to Have Two or More Shots on Target
Cameron Archer has not yet started a game at the U21 Euros, with Lee Carsley instead opting for Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Gordon in attack.
However, with a quarter-final on the horizon, Carsley may be tempted to rest those attacking options and start a more traditional forward up front in their place.
Archer comes into the Euros on the back of an excellent loan spell at Middlesbrough, scoring 11 times in 20 appearances to help fire Boro into the playoffs.
He averaged one shot on target per game for Michael Carrick’s side in the Championship last season but can improve on that record when England take on a shaky German defence.
He is good value to test German goalkeeper Noah Atubolu on at least two occasions.
