England v North Macedonia

Old Trafford, Manchester
TV: Channel 4, 7:45pm

England continue their procession towards Euro 2024 on Monday night with the visit of North Macedonia to Wembley. Fresh off a 4-0 win over Malta on Friday night, Gareth Southgate’s Lions will be expecting to win comfortably in front of their own fans.

England -1

Not only are they lethal going forward but they’re rock-solid at the back, only conceding in two of their last seven games with France and Italy managing to breach Jordan Pickford and his merry band of defenders, often including Harry Maguire no less.

England -2 is tempting but with that end-of-term feel a 3-0 or 4-1 win feels a tad risky. North Macedonia are handy enough and have scored in their last five so we’ll play it a little safer and take England -1.

Harry Kane to Score Anytime

And one man who will be licking his lips at more low-hanging international fruit is England’s all-time top scorer Harry Kane. He bagged against the Maltese a few days ago to make it five consecutive matches with a goal in an England shirt.

He was taken off after 60 minutes so everything’s indicating he’ll start here again on Monday night. It’s the perfect opportunity to massage the international goal-scoring figures and a last chance to push for a move away from Spurs this summer so Kane to Score Anytime feel like a no brainer.

Ireland v Gibraltar

Aviva Stadium, Dublin
TV: RTE 2, Viaplay, 7:45pm

Ireland’s hopes of getting to another major tournament took a huge blow on Friday night with the 2-1 defeat to Greece. It leaves them pointless in Group B, a group that contains France and The Netherlands.

Gibraltar +4

Gone are the days of Gibraltar getting pumped 7-0 everywhere they go. Sure they’ve lost all three of their Euro qualifier matches so far, but they’ve all been 3-0. They’ve faced Greece, France and The Netherlands in that time as well.

Even the most optimistic Irish fan might be pushed to think The Boys in Green are quite on a par with that lot, certainly the latter pair. This handicap feels way too high so let’s take advantage and just enjoy a low-scoring home win.

Northern Ireland v Kazakhstan

Windsor Park, Belfast
TV: Viaplay, 7:45pm

It’s been a campaign of ‘what if’s’ for Northern Ireland so far with two 1-0 losses and a win from their three games in what is a really tight Group H. They’ve lost to Finland and Denmark but welcome the surprise package Kazakhstan to Windsor Park here.

Kazakhstan +1

We’ll take our chances in the handicap markets again here and I think there might be a lot of value in siding with Kazakhstan +1. The Kazakhstanis actually beat Denmark 3-2 back in March to blow the group wide open and, with Northern Ireland’s woes in front of goal, there’s no reason to think they can’t get a result out of this.

They’ve scored seven goals so far in this campaign while Michael O’Neill’s men have mustered just the two goals and they both came against minnows San Marino. Kazakhstan beat them 3-0, by the way. I’m just not sure Northern Ireland will be able to get past Kazakhstan, even though Paddy’s traders think it’s a formality.

Turkey v Wales

Samsun Stadyumu, Samsun
TV: Viaplay, 7:45pm

Things might be starting to turn a little sour for Rob Page at Wales. The Dragons have won just two games all season, losing eight including the painful home loss to Armenia on Friday night. They face a really tough trip to in-form Turkey and it’s a game they badly need to get something out of.

Turkey to Win

But everything is pointing to a home win. Wales followed up that last-gasp draw in Croatia with a slender 1-0 won over group D whipping boys Latvia. But that Armenia loss was a shocker and they’re now just a point behind Wales with a game in hand.

I touched on Wales’ overall form, but check out Turkey. They’ve won eight games this season, only losing to Croatia and… hang on… the Faroe Islands? In truth they’ve faced some pretty awful teams in 2022/23 but they’ll be high in confidence off the back of that and dispatched of Armenia 2-1 away in March. That, added to home advantage, is pointing me towards the Turkey to Win.
