Europa Conference League Final Betting Tips: 5 stats to consider for your Fiorentina v West Ham Bet Builder

Paddy Murphy delves into the stats and form ahead of Wednesday's showdown in Prague.

Fiorentina v West Ham Europa Conference League Final betting tips

Fiorentina take on West Ham on Wednesday night in this season’s Europa Conference League final in Prague.

The Hammers are in their first major European final since their 1975/76 Cup Winners Cup loss to Anderlecht, while the Italian side are in their first European final since a 1961/62 loss to Atletico Madrid in the same competition. If you’re looking to have a flutter, Paddy’s have got you covered with a multitude of different Fiorentina v West Ham markets.

Let’s take a look at 5 to consider for your Bet Builder for the game…

Italian Dark Arts

David Moyes has already called upon West Ham v Fiorentina referee Carlos del Cerro Grande to keep a look out for their opponent’s “tactical fouls” in Wednesday’s Europa Conference League final. Vincenzo Italiano has also gone public with his plan to disrupt the Hammers in Wednesday’s final in the Czech Republic.

There’s little doubt then that Moyes expects things to get testy here, while his counterpart has pretty much admitted that his side are going to get physical. Il Viola aren’t a hugely dirty side but they finished as the Serie A’s seventh-worst offender in the disciplinary table and have collected 20 cards over their last five in all competitions. Over their last five in Europe they chalked up an average of three per game.

Shoot on Sight

Argentina forward Nicolas Gonzalez scored just eight goals over his domestic season for Fiorentina. However, he’s been on a hot streak in Europe, scoring six goals over his 12 appearances in their march to the final in Prague. He is, by far, the leader of this Fiorentina side when it comes to shooting. He averaged 2.5 shots per game in the Serie A this season and is never shy about having a pop.

The way it’s looking, Fiorentina might concede the early possession to West Ham so when they do counter up the pitch, Gonzalez will likely be the main target.

Jarrod Bowen’s Love for Europe

Jarrod Bowen bloody loves playing in Europe. You could even say he was on fire. The Hammers winger scored a total of 12 goals and created 10 assists in the 2021/22 Premier League season and this season with six goals and five assists hasn’t been as productive as West Ham flirted dangerously with relegation. However, in Europe last time out he scored three and created one while this term has scored five and created two.

He’s become lethal at drifting in and finding space for passes in the final third.

West Ham’s Wall of Iron

To state the obvious, West Ham’s Premier League campaign did not go well this term, winning just 11 of their 38 games, drawing seven and losing 20. They conceded a total of 55 goals which was the fourth-best of the bottom half of the table. David Moyes’ side have had a awfully long road to take to the final – 14 games in all – where they won 13 and drew one but most impressively they only conceded in half of those games.

Over their last six games in all competitions, they’ve only conceded two goals in two matches and while Italiano’s side might concentrate on stifling West Ham going forward, they might be better off paying attention on how to break down the Iron’s solid European defence. This has the makings of a tight affair.

The Occasion

The London side have had an extra week to prepare for the final with Fiorentina being in action last Friday, winning 3-1 away to Sassuolo in their final Serie A game of the season. We recently saw Roma take a lead against Sevilla in the Europa League final and not many will be surprised when Il Viola take a leaf from the Jose Mourinho playbook here.

Fiorentina have plenty of attacking talent but over the season have struggled against defensively sound opposition while West Ham have only scored more than two goals in three of their last 10 fixtures. We could be in for a long night!
