Man City v Man United

Saturday, 3pm, Live on BBC One & ITV1

.Stopping the treble will be something United could always have over City, whatever they go on to do.

Everyone’s going to be talking about it before the game, it obviously means a lot to the club and the fans, so the players will get it. Denying City matters.

And they look like they’re going to dominate for years, like United did in the past.

That means this FA Cup final presents a huge opportunity – and incentive – for United’s players to go and stop their treble attempt.

But it’s going to be so difficult.

United got their job done in the league, securing top 4, but they don’t look as hot now as they were back in January when they beat City.

And City have been on a great run since then.

I thought Madrid could stop them in Europe but that was it , but they absolutely dismantled them. They looked like an average team in the first half at the Etihad.

The standards City set for themselves are so high. You see the players having a go at each other when things aren’t done right and that example is set by the manager. Pep Guardiola is relentless in his pursuit of trophies.

You see it with how he handles players – anyone steps out of line, they are gone. Joao Cancelo looked like one of the best full-backs in world football and he was out.

It makes it difficult to see anything other than a comfortable win for City, and that usually mean Erling Haaland’s on the scoresheet at least once.

They have threats throughout the team though, obviously. Kevin De Bruyne cam up with a huge goal in the Madrid tie over there and he’ll always pose a problem if given the space to shoot.

If United try to go toe-to-toe with City they’ll get picked off. They’ll need to start well to have a chance and play deep, try to stay in the game and then hope for a breakaway goal or set-piece.

Marcus Rashford does carry a threat on the counter so he should get an effort on target.

They’ll also need to get amongst City and try to make them uncomfortable.

That’s easier said than done. City don’t get rattled. Look at Jack Grealish – Madrid kept fouling him, trying to get at him, but he just keep getting back up.

Rodri might make a few tactical fouls but they’re not going to get riled up.

Casemiro for United will be in the thick of it too and has had quite a few cards this season. You would think if there are any in this he might get one of them.
