Scottish FA Cup Final

Celtic -2

Celtic couldn’t have asked for a more winnable final as they bid to complete a domestic treble on Saturday evening. Mid-table in the Scottish Championship, Inverness would arguably pull off the greatest cup final shock of all time if they can beat Ange Postecoglou’s all-conquering side on Saturday.

The Aussie’s outfit won the league at a canter, finishing on 99 points after wrapping up the title at the beginning of May. They scored an incredible 114 goals in the league – an average of exactly three per game – and finished with a goal difference of 80.

The Bhoys also dumped out three top six clubs en route to Saturday’s final and should make light work of an Inverness side that beat League One Falkirk in their semi-final. Caley finished a disappointing sixth in the Championship, missing out on a play-off spot and a potential route back into the top tier. It would be surprising if Celtic didn’t win with ease.

Kyogo Furuhashi to Score First

Kyogo has been so clinical this season that there is no value in backing him to score anytime on Saturday. His record of 33 goals in all competitions is almost three times better than Jota, Celtic’s next-highest scorer, who has 14.

The Japanese has already scored three goals in the Scottish FA Cup this season and twice in Celtic’s League Cup final win over Rangers in February, including the first of the game. He is by far the most likely player to open the scoring here.

Inverness to Receive the Most Cards

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Celtic boasted the best disciplinary record in the Scottish Premiership this season, picking up 40 yellow cards and two red cards in 38 league games. Postecoglou’s side averaged a whopping 72% possession in the league and will likely record similar figures at Hampden, leaving Inverness to chase shadows.

It is unlikely Celtic will find themselves in a position to commit fouls worthy of bookings or a sending off. Billy Dodds’ side, on the other hand, will have to deal with a lightning-fast attack and could quite conceivably pick up several cards.

Over 10.5 Corners

Celtic will almost certainly dominate possession and territory, while they are equally likely to pepper the Inverness goal with shots. Postecoglou’s charges averaged 19 shots per game in the league this season and could easily match that average against an ICT side that will surely defend in its own 18-yard box.

The vast majority of the game will be played in the Championship side’s third and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Hoops won 11 corners by themselves. After all, they have won a minimum of ten corners per game in each of their final three league games of the season.
