FA Cup Final 2023
Saturday, June 3 – 3pm: Manchester City v Manchester United
TV: BBC One, ITV1, STV, iPlayer, ITVX
All eyes will be drawn to Wembley stadium on Saturday as the two Manchester heavyweights of United and City go at it for both the FA Cup and the local bragging rights. City have been formidable this season and out to win leg two of a potential treble ahead of the Champions League Final seven days later against Inter Milan.
Over 1.5 First Half Goals
City have won three of the last four meetings between the pair but a fantastic performance from United in mid-January leaves their ‘noisy neighbours’ looking to reassert their dominance at Wembley. In United’s 38 Premier League games this season, only 11 were 0-0 at half time. As for City, on only nine occasions there was not at least one first half goal.
Some are speculating this may be a cautious match and that United will look to get to the 60th minute in touch, but I am not so sure. They have a devastating attack and, as we saw in January, City may well have a lot of the possession but The Red Devils are more than capable on the counter-attack with the speed of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho to name just a few.
The first half may be explosive and Over 1.5 First Half Goals looks worth siding with at the price.
Casemiro To Score Or To Be Shown A Card
There will be many spectacular players on show in this fascinating final from Erling Haaland and Rashford to Kevin De Bruyne and Bruno Fernandes. However, the longevity and class of Casemiro is nothing short of remarkable and he has been a brilliant signing.
Casemiro is not shy of a midfield battle and has nine yellows and two reds this season in the league, averaging 0.47 per 90 minutes. The Brazilian, although not renowned for his scoring record, has contributed seven this season and as many assists too. In what should be a feisty match I like the price on Casemiro To Score Or To Be Shown A Card.

Luke Shaw To Commit 2 Or More Fouls
As already mentioned, this looks set to be a typical derby and this leads me on to my third selection. Luke Shaw has had one of his best campaigns to date and has even deputised at centre back to cover injuries and out of form players.
Shaw himself committed 46 fouls in 31 league games averaging 1.62 per 90 and, with him likely starting left back, I feel the price on Shaw committing 2 or More Fouls makes it a strong bet.
Manchester City to Lift The Cup
Enough of all this stats and percentages… the real question is who do I, a City fan, fancy to lift the trophy? Well, personally, I fear United more than next week’s opponents Inter Milan and I am more nervous about this game then I will be for the Champion’s League final!
That being said, City can get the job done but I am not so sure it will be inside the 90 minutes. I have forecasted first half goals already, but I could see a 1-1 or 2-2 draw and that we head into an excruciating but fascinating period of extra-time.
For the reasons mentioned I am going to play it safe and put in City To Lift the Cup.
