The Premier League 2022/23 edition concludes on Sunday at 4.30pm and it’s all eyes at the bottom of the table to see who of Everton, Leeds or Leicester will survive the drop. The Toffees face Bournemouth at Goodison while Leeds host Spurs and The Foxes welcome West Ham to the King Power.
It’s set to be a nerve-wracking experience for fans of those clubs but the neutrals can sit back and enjoy the fireworks. It’s only fitting that we bow down and vow fealty to the Crown Prince of the Correct Score call, our resident tipster and Premier League prediction King, Mark Lawrenson. Here’s his Premier League picks…

Arsenal v Wolves
A win here would just underline Arsenal’s great season, which I expect them to do. Wolves are in a strange situation because it would appear they’re under some scrutiny from FFP and Julen Lopetegui might walk or lose his job. We’ll see. Arsenal 2-1 Wolves.
Aston Villa v Brighton
TV: Sky Sports Football, Sky Showcase and Sky Sports Mix
Brighton had a massive party after qualifying for the Europa League and they’ve done so well. If you think about it when Roberto De Zerbi took over you were just thinking, ‘Wow, what’s going to happen?’ But, in essence, they’ve actually got better and they’ve got some top, top players. I hope they can keep most of them.
Aston Villa have done great and if they win they’ll just be one point and one place behind Brighton. I’m going to go for that outcome. Aston Villa 2-1 Brighton.
Brentford v Manchester City
This is tricky for Manchester City because they’ve got the cup finals coming up. It’s a case of what does the manger do? Often when you get to a final and there’s as game in-between you leave players out and you lose your touch a little bit. I think Pep Guardiola will play a weakened side in this. Brentford have done brilliantly but I’ll go with City to win. Brentford 0-2 Manchester City.
Chelsea v Newcastle
The mess at Chelsea just continues. Newcastle got the point they needed to qualify for the Champions League on Monday, they’re really strong and on a high. Might be a bit of a come down here, though. Chelsea 1-1 Newcastle.
Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forest
I thought Crystal Palace panicked a bit when they let Patrick Viera go but Roy Hodgson’s come in and sorted it out. Nottingham Forest just about got their timing right and what I mean by that is, they signed that many players that it took them so long to work out what their best team was.
They’ve got it eventually and well done to them. It’ll be a bit like a testimonial this which could go either way. Crystal Palace 2-1 Nottingham Forest.
Everton v Bournemouth
TV: Sky Sports Premier League
Bournemouth, let’s pat them on the back and say they’ve done fab. Everybody thought that they would possibly be the worst team in the league but they’ve been excellent. Everton have been here before, and I don’t just mean the current lot.
They’ve needed last-day win before and they’re at home. I know there are one or two players missing but I’m going to go for them to win and stay up. Everton 2-1 Bournemouth.
Leeds v Tottenham
TV: BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate
Tottenham are already on their holidays and their away form has been awful but Harry Kane will want to score and he’ll get opportunities against Leeds. I was going to go for a draw but Leeds have to win so they’ll go all out in the final 10 minutes and I think Spurs might do them. Leeds 1-2 Tottenham.
Leicester v West Ham
West Ham could actually go to 43 points with a win which, after all the ‘David Moyes out’ and European final, isn’t too bad. The pressure is on Leicester to win, nothing else will do. West Ham have a couple of weeks until the Europa Conference League final so I think Moysey will go strong and he’ll say to them, ‘You’re playing for your place in the final’. I think this might be a draw. Leicester 1-1 West Ham.
Manchester United v Fulham
Manchester United got what they needed against Chelsea on Thursday – what a mess Chelsea are in. Fulham have have had a very, very good season with over 50 points. Think United will edge this. Manchester United 2-1 Fulham.
Southampton v Liverpool
I was at the Liverpool game last week and how on earth was Tyrone Mings not sent off? Aston Villa were good in that game, by the way. I think Liverpool will win this easily and Southampton are in disarray. Southampton 0-2 Liverpool.
LAWRO V PUNTER CHALLENGE
So, you’ve heard what Mark Lawrenson has to say, but can this week’s Paddy Power punter take down our game-guessing guru with their Premier League predictions?
If you don’t know what we’re talking about, where have you been? Every Premier League gameweek this season we’ve put up at least £/€50 – more if there’s a rollover – to anyone who can outsmart Lawro in guessing the outcome of that week’s games. All the rules are here, but in a nutshell it’s three points for a correct score, and one point for a correct result. Simples.
There’s £/€250 up for grabs this weekend after Lawro narrowly saw off the challenge of Stuart the Dundee FC fan 6-5. This week, it’s Calum the Aberdeen looking to take the spoils and land the loot in the final Challenge Lawro of the season. Here are his correct score calls…

Aston Villa 1-2 Brighton
Brentford 0-3 Man City
Chelsea 1-2 Newcastle
