After a mixed performance in the first leg in the London Stadium, West Ham were lucky to come away with a one-goal win against AZ Alkmaar. Now they make the trip across to the Netherlands, with the vision of a Europa Conference League final firmly fixed in their minds. After what has been a poor season overall for the Hammers in the league, their run in this competition has certainly been a highlight.
The Draw
The first leg was a close affair overall, with West Ham scrambling from behind after going one-nil down as the first half drew to a close. This game could turn out much the same, with AZ Alkmaar dominating the possession again and creating more chances than they did in the first leg.
West Ham will be more than happy with a Draw that would see them going through to the final in Prague, against either Basel or Fiorentina.
Over 1.5 Goals
Just like the first game, we’re expecting to see a few goals in this match. With Alkmaar scrambling to overcome their goal deficit, and the encouragement of the home fans, they will be dangerous. AZ Alkmaar to Receive the Most Cards
In the first leg, Alkmaar picked up three yellow cards, including one for former Arsenal and Brighton goalkeeper Maty Ryan. We’re expecting to see this trend continue (not the goalkeeper getting booked, but AZ receiving more cards).
