Scottish Premiership

Celtic to Win

Celtic take on Rangers for just the sixth time this season when they travel to Ibrox on Saturday and will be confident of yet another positive result against their arch-rivals. Celtic have won four of the five Old Firms this season, drawing the other, and travel to Ibrox as newly-crowned Premiership Champions.

They have dropped just four points in the league in 2023, winning 14 of their 16 league games this year. The Bhoys are on course to reach a staggering 107 points in the league and will want to celebrate their recent league title victory with a win over Rangers on their own turf. It’s hard to back against Ange Postecoglou’s side winning.

Both Teams to Score

Celtic beat Rangers in a low-scoring affair in the Scottish Cup semi-final two weeks ago, but that game was a bit of an outlier when it comes to meetings between the two this term. There have been 13 goals in the three league meetings between the sides, with the only other game at Ibrox ending in a thrilling 2-2 draw. It’s hardly surprising, considering Celtic and Rangers boast the two best attacks in Scotland by quite a distance.

Celtic have scored an astonishing 105 goals in 34 league games this season, while Rangers have scored 82 goals in the same number of matches. Hearts, the third-highest scoring team in Scotland, have only scored 56 goals this season.

While their recent Scottish Cup semi-final meeting ended in a tense 1-0 win for Celtic, this meeting should be dramatically different as there is no pressure on either side. The last Old Firm of the season should be a goal fest.

Kyogo Furuhashi to Score Anytime

Kyogo Furuhashi didn’t get on the scoresheet during Celtic’s win over Rangers in the cup, but he has been devastating in Old Firms this season, scoring five goals in five appearances against Rangers.

Furuhashi scored a late equaliser in Celtic’s 2-2 draw at Ibrox in January and scored twice in the recent league win at Celtic Park. He also scored twice in the League Cup final win over Rangers in February and has been Celtic’s most ruthless forward by some distance, scoring an impressive 30 goals in all competitions.

Jota, who has scored the second-most goals for Celtic this season, has only scored 14 goals in all competitions. Furuhashi is by far the most likely player to get on the scoresheet.

John Lundstram to be Shown a Card

John Lundstram has been Rangers’ worst-disciplined player in the league this season, picking up six yellow cards and one red card in 28 league starts. Lundstram averages one foul per game in the league this season and will almost certainly be forced to foul on Saturday against an energetic Celtic midfield. There is also a high probability of a good few yellow cards.

There might be nothing to play for on paper, but both sides will be looking to get one over on each other for the last time this season. There have been 28 yellow cards issued in the five meetings between Celtic and Rangers this season at an average of almost six cards per game.

There will almost certainly be cards on Saturday and Lundstram is as good a bet as any to receive one.

Over 5.5 Rangers Corners

Rangers have won 45 corners in their last six games in all competitions at a rate of well over seven per game and they are likely to try and put Celtic under pressure to give their fans something to cheer about at the end of a highly disappointing season.

Rangers have won 27 corners in five games against Celtic this season at just over five corners per game and will likely pepper Joe Hart’s goal with shots. It wouldn’t be surprising to see them win a high volume of corners as they attempt to win back some of the bragging rights in Glasgow.
