Wednesday, 8pm: Man City v West Ham
Premier League
TV: Sky Sports Football

Under 2.5 Cards

Manchester City and West Ham are two of the best-disciplined sides in the league. The Hammers boast the second-best record in the league, picking up a mere 41 yellow cards in 33 games this season, and have received just one more yellow card than Brighton.

City, meanwhile, are only just behind the Hammers, picking up 43 yellows and one red card in 32 games. Both sides are in with a realistic shout of winning the Fair Play award this season and it is unlikely that we will see a flurry of yellow cards on Wednesday.

The hosts are likely to dominate the ball, reducing the number of scenarios where they will be forced to make fouls worthy of a yellow card, while West Ham avoided picking up any yellow cards in the reverse fixture against City, despite seeing only 24% of the ball.

It would be surprising to see a card-heavy match on Wednesday night.

Erling Haaland to Score 2 or More Goals

There is simply no value in backing Erling Haaland to simply score anytime anymore. It is unheard of for a Premier League player to be 2/5 to find the back of the net in any given game, but Haaland has fully merited those odds.

The Norwegian striker has scored 34 goals in 30 league appearances and will break the record for the most goals in any Premier League season if he scores against West Ham on Wednesday.

Haaland scored twice against the Hammers on the opening day of the season to open his account as a City player and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him repeat the trick against the same opponents.

The majority of Haaland’s league goals have come at the Etihad, with 21 of his 34 goals coming at home. He has scored four league hat tricks on home soil and seems to be especially ruthless when playing in front of the City fans. West Ham will have their work cut out to keep him quiet on Wednesday.

West Ham to have 3 or More Shots on Target

West Ham looked to have taken a giant stride towards Premier League safety with their 4-0 win over Bournemouth, but back-to-back defeats against Liverpool and Crystal Palace has dragged them slowly back towards the relegation zone.

They are almost certainly going to leave the Etihad empty-handed, but they will have to give it a go at some point and may be able to get at City at certain periods of the game. Fulham’s goal against City on Sunday exposed some vulnerabilities in their defence, while West Ham have been far more shot-happy in recent weeks, landing 24 efforts on target in their last five games.

Pep Guardiola’s side are likely to win this game quite comfortably, but West Ham arguably have more chance of testing Ederson on numerous occasions if the game is over as a contest by half time.

City recently took a 3-0 lead in at the break against Leicester and proceeded to take their foot off the pedal as they prepared for more difficult games ahead, allowing Leicester to register four shots on goal. It wouldn’t be surprising if something similar happened against West Ham.

Over 10.5 Corner

Only Newcastle win more corners per game than Manchester City. Guardiola’s side average 6.3 corners per game and are likely to at least match that average against West Ham, considering they will dominate both possession and territory. In reality, they are likely to be significantly better than average and could accumulate a number of corners early on as they try to put West Ham under pressure.

West Ham, on the other hand, appear to score exclusively through set pieces these days as Bournemouth and Crystal Palace have recently discovered.

The Hammers win an average of 5.4 corners per game, which is far above the league average, and may win a few corners of their own on Wednesday night.
