Both Teams to Score in the First Half

The Both Teams to Score odds are looking a bit slim, we’d have to admit. The reason is pretty obvious too, both teams are averaging 1.32 goals in their respective home/away Championship games. Looking closer at recent stats however, we see an interesting trend we can exploit. 

West Brom have scored five First Half goals over their last five home league games while Norwich have scored four FH goals over their last six away games. Both teams can still grab  a place in the playoffs and will be desperate to get the three points. We’re expecting a high octane first half here and with the above stats the BTTS in the First Half odds are very appealing.

Andrew Omobamidele to be Shown a Card

Ireland international Andrew Omobamidele isn’t the worst offender in Norwich’s squad regarding cards, that honour falls on his defensive partner, Max Aarons, but we’re looking at the Co. Kildare man here. The reason being is that Aarons on the right won’t be in for as tough a game as Omobamidele who will be tasked with keeping West Brom’s joint leading goalscorer Brandon Thomas-Asante quiet on Sunday evening.

As Carlos Corberan plays with a front four with Thomas-Asante supported by three others we’ll see Thomas-Asante as the pivot bringing in the other players so Omobamidele will have to be on his toes for the whole 90 minutes here. We can see him making at least one tactical foul here leading to a booking.

Norwich to Receive the Most Cards

West Brom are bottom of the Championship’s disciplinary table with just 74 total bookings. Norwich have had 88 cards in total, 84 yellow and four reds. Over the season so far the Baggies have averaged just 1.59 cards at home while the Canaries have averaged 2.27 cards per away league encounter. With home advantage, it’s not too difficult to see the away side picking up more bookings here.

If we’ve called this match correctly, seeing a 1-1 halftime score, we’re going to see plenty of action in the second period of play as both teams, as previously mentioned, will be desperate for the points to squeeze into the playoff places. We can see both teams pushing for the win here which means more attacks and more corners and we think we’ll see at least 11 at the Hawthorns.
