Nottingham Forest vs Brighton

TV: BT Sport ESPN, 7:30pm

Danny Welbeck to have 2 or More Shots on Target

Nottingham Forest need to start picking up points if they are to remain in the Premier League and have their work cut out against an excellent Brighton side. Forest have failed to win any of their last 11 league games and seem to be irreversibly sliding back towards the Championship.

Their only hope on Wednesday is that Brighton are suffering a hangover from Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester United. One thing is certain about this clash at the City Ground – Brighton will dominate both possession and the shot count.

Brighton rank third in terms of possession this season averaging 60% per game, while Forest are rock bottom, averaging just 38.9% per game. The Seagulls also average the third-highest number of shots per game, attempting 15.7 shots per 90 minutes. Forest, on the other hand, face an average of 14.6 shots per game – the fourth-highest in the league.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side registered 19 shots and seven efforts on target in the reverse fixture last October and it wouldn’t be surprising if they do so again. Danny Welbeck, who is likely to lead the line on Wednesday, averages over two shots per game in the league and will undoubtedly test Keylor Navas at the City Ground.

Chelsea vs Brentford

TV: BT Sport 3, 7:45pm

Under 2.5 Goals

It is now four games and four defeats for Chelsea’s Frank Lampard, who has seen his side score precisely one goal since he took over. Chelsea boast the fifth-worst goalscoring record in the division, scoring just 30 goals in 31 games. They have scored just 13 goals in 21 games since the beginning of the year and face a Brentford side that has failed to score in four of their last seven away games.

Brentford appear to be one of the few Premier League teams who have taken the cliched early trip to the beach and all signs point to a low-scoring affair at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

West Ham vs Liverpool

TV: BT Sport 2, 7:45pm

Under 2.5 Cards

West Ham and Liverpool sees a meeting between two of the best disciplined sides in the Premier League. West Ham boast the joint-best record in the league, receiving just 38 yellow cards in 31 games, while Liverpool are the sixth-best disciplined side at present, receiving 44 yellow cards and one red card in 31 games.

David Moyes’ side have received just seven cards in their last six games and very seldomly pick up more than one card in any given game.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have seen their disciplinary record worsen in recent weeks after picking up four yellow cards in consecutive games against Chelsea and Arsenal, but those games were particularly fiery and Wednesday’s clash with West Ham is unlikely to be so hotly contested, especially considering there were zero cards issued when the sides met back in October.

Over 9.5 Corners

There is a good chance that this match will see a significant number of corners. Liverpool’s average of 5.9 corners per game is the fourth-highest in the league, while West Ham are only slightly behind them on 5.4 per game.

West Ham used set pieces to great effect in their win over Bournemouth at the weekend and will look to do the same against a Liverpool side that seemed to fall apart when Nottingham Forest launched the ball into the box on Saturday. It would be surprising if the corner count remained low at the London Stadium.

Bernardo Silva, Man City, 1-23

Manchester City vs Arsenal

TV: BT Sport 1, 8pm

Erling Haaland to have 1 Shot on Target in Each Half

The biggest game of the season by some distance, Arsenal’s trip to Manchester City will have huge implications on the title race. City will hope that Erling Haaland can continue his freakish goalscoring returns in such a pivotal game. The Norwegian striker has scored 48 goals in his debut season in Manchester and will break the record for the most goals in a 38-game season if he scores against Arsenal.

Haaland will be desperate to break the record in such important circumstances and will likely seek to test Aaron Ramsdale at every opportunity, especially considering he is up against Rob Holding instead of William Saliba.

Haaland averages 3.4 shots per game in the league this season – the third-highest average in the division – and it would not be surprising in the least if he landed an effort on target in each half.
