After managing to stump Napoli again (for the second time in as many weeks), AC Milan ran out 1-0 winners at the San Siro in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie. Napoli showed their reliance on the injured Victor Osimhen as they struggled to find the back of the net, and were left a man down as Andrew-Frank Zambo Anguissa saw red late on. 

Gli Azzurri will have it all to do if they’re to find themselves progressing into the semi-finals. Reports suggest they may have their target man on the bench on Tuesday night, hopefully he can come in and make some sort of an impact to help Napoli continue on their whirlwind season.

Napoli to Qualify for the Next Round

Napoli will be hoping that third time’s the charm in their third encounter with AC Milan in as many weeks, and they should be in the position to make it happen. A one-nil lead isn’t insurmountable by any stretch of the imagination – especially not to a side that is far and away the highest scoring in the Serie A this season. Hopefully they’ll keep all 11 men on the field in this one, and make it through to the semi finals, even if it’s a case of going through in extra time or penalties.

Over 2.5 Goals

Napoli will need goals if they’re to progress in this one. With Victor Osimhen set to play some sort of a role in this one coming back from injury, we’re expecting to see more of an attacking threat relative to what we saw last week with North Macedonian Eljif Elmas leading the line.

Napoli to Have 6 Or More Shots On Target

Napoli had more than six shots on target in their last bout against AC Milan last week, and with the increased pressure of elimination looming, if anything we’d expect to see this go up. In Osimhen’s absence, there has been a notable dip in the average number of shots on target per game. However, with him back in the squad for this match, at a pivotal junction in the season, all roads lead to them hitting more than six shots on target in this one.

Simon Kjaer to be Shown a Card

Simon Kjaer isn’t known for being a particularly dirty player at all. But he’s only played limited minutes so far this season, and in just twelve Serie A appearances has found himself booked in four of them. A card every three appearances on average is a stat that was just too glaring to ignore. He’s getting older, and starting to slow down a bit now at 33. Milan will look to him with all of his experience against this talented Napoli side. Let’s hope he can let them down just enough and find his way into the referee’s book.

Over 9.5 Corners

There were 13 total corners in the first leg, ten of these in Napoli’s favour. A nice leg to add to our Bet Builder as there’s a strong likelihood that it comes through. With 14 total corners witnessed in their other meeting two weeks ago. Two sides that will be heavily focused on the attack, with a track record of generating plenty of corners. Both sides have gone over the 9.5 corners mark in nine of their last ten games as well.

On Sunday, Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti alluded to the fact that Osimhen, who has missed a number of games due to injury in recent weeks will appear in this game – likely off the bench. He’s managed 21 goals in just 24 games in Serie A this season, and four goals in five in the Champions League. Not to mention that he’s achieved all of that with just over 40 shots on target over the season in total. Napoli will be reliant on their sharp shooter once he gets deployed, and we expect to see him be very effective.
