Crouchy’s Shouts: Liverpool to make Arsenal work in this 8/1 shot

Peter Crouch says Sunday could test the league leaders' title credentials

Peter Crouch put together a 14/1 winner last weekend on Man City’s win over Liverpool at the Etihad – we’re hoping he can double up this week as league leaders Arsenal make the trip to Anfield…

Liverpool v Arsenal, Sunday, April 9th, 4:30pm
TV: Sky Sports Main Event

Liverpool against Chelsea was a tough watch. Usually with the forwards Liverpool have you’d expect a few more chances, but they created very little.

It was still a draw against a tough team – following on from the City loss, that’s not all bad. You could really see the gulf in class between the two sides on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp said last week that people might ask how he hasn’t been sacked with so many other managers losing their jobs this season.

Football’s a mad world and things can change so quickly, but if anyone should be afforded time it’s him.

He’s normally incredibly upbeat so it’s unusual to hear him so pessimistic, but this is a big summer for Liverpool. Top 4 looks like it’s gone now, which’ll make it tough attract players.

If you’re not in the Champions League, signing the likes of likes of Jude Bellingham becomes a lot more difficult.

And the fixtures haven’t helped there – City away, Chelsea away, and now they’re facing the league leaders Arsenal at Anfield.

Things just seem to keep getting better for them. They’ve won all seven league games since they lost to City, they’re scoring bucketloads of goals – it’s definitely not what Liverpool want to see right now.

Gabriel Jesus is back and got a couple of goals too last weekend – everyone was worried about missing him but they just kept going.

It’s a big change from what we thought about Arsenal since the Invincibles era really. They were miles off the pace last year as well, so seeing this turnaround is really something.

This game is at Anfield though and that counts for a lot. Despite their form Liverpool still have to be willing to take the game to Arsenal.

It’s not like they’ll be nervy – they need to play their way and attack Arsenal. The danger is defensively, Liverpool are really short of confidence right now.

There’s not enough urgency and they’re not able to get to opponents. Virgil Van Dijk is clearly struggling – I used to think he was unstoppable before but he’s showing he’s got a vulnerable side now.

Against Jesus, Saka and Martinelli, you really don’t need that.

They’re all dangerous and I fancy Jesus in particular to keep up his scoring form on Sunday.

I can also see Liverpool causing Arsenal some problems though.

There’s Mo Salah obviously, but Darwin Nunez has shown he’s a handful too and he can make a nuisance of himself in this one.

With that attacking talent and the atmosphere at Anfield it should be a real for the Gunners’ title credentials.

Liverpool are more than capable of getting something out of a game like this – we saw that in the United game – and I’d expect there to be quite a few goals in this.

Fabinho came through in our 14/1 winner with a couple of fouls last week and I expect him to be as busy in the Liverpool midfield this weekend.

He’ll want to shut down Arsenal creative players and could be forced to make a few timely – or untimely – interventions again.
