22- ACCA CRACKER - NEW CAP 1024

QPR v Preston – Preston to Win

It’s moving time in the EFL this weekend with two games in four days and everyone in action as we enter the final handful of matchdays in the second to fourth tiers of the English pyramid. I’ve found a Good Friday flutter from The Championship and League Two as well as a pair of prize punts in League One so we’ll kick off in the Championship with QPR v Preston.

This might not be the obvious game to go to for a bet in this division, but hear me out. QPR in 18th are in shocking form and are very much in a relegation battle. They host the side placed 10th in the division who are punching well above their weight on their travels, Preston North End.

The R’s have lost eight of their last nine league games while it’s one loss over the same timeframe for PNE with four wins and four draws thrown into the mix. North End have the 4th-best away haul in the division with 32 points from 19 games so we’ll happily back an Away Win here at a healthy price.

Burton v Barnsley – Barnsley to Win

To the first of our League One bets next and it’s the in-form Barnsley heading to 18th-placed Burton. The Brewers are not quite safe from relegation yet, they’ll need a few more points to secure their place in this league next season, while The Tykes are in the playoffs in 4th and still harbour automatic promotion hopes.

They’ll need to bounce back on the road if we’re to win our acca as they lost 3-1 to Exeter the last time they played away. However, that’s their only defeat in the last 14 games and they pumped lowly Morecambe 5-0 at Oakwell on Saturday.

Albion are pretty hit-and-miss at the moment and their recent form shows two draws, two losses and two wins in their last six. We’ll hope they have one of their off days and that the visitors are back on form for a Barnsley Win.

Ipswich v Wycombe – Ipswich Win & Under 3.5 Goals

If you thought Barnsley were in pretty good nick, wait till you get a load of Ipswich’s recent form. The Tractor Boys have notched up seven straight wins conceding a grand total of ZERO goals over that timeframe. They’re breathing down Plymouth’s necks, who sit in second, and have a two-point gap to cover in the remaining eight games with a superior goal difference up their sleeves.

Wycombe are in the playoff hunt but they’ve only won two of their eight games since the long-serving Gareth Ainsworth left to try and turn around QPR’s fortunes in the league above. They’ve won one, drawn two and lost two of their last five more recently.

All things considered I think we’re getting a great price on Ipswich to Win and Under 3.5 Goals. Not only does that give us quite a lot of wriggle room, and even scope for the hosts to concede as well, but it’s also clicked in their last three and four of their last five.

Grimsby v Hartlepool – Hartlepool Win/Draw

And finally, to League Two for a 15th versus 23rd clash – and we’ll be siding with the team in the relegation zone, Hartlepool. They’re off to Grimsby for another huge day in their battle against the drop and I fancy them to get something out of it.

For a team rated 91st in the football pyramid they’re actually in okay shape and with seven games to go they’ve found a formula that could drag them out of the mire. Now, they’ve only won one of their last 10 games, but they’ve only lost two and they’ve drawn a remarkable seven of those matches.

Their sole win came last weekend against Swindon with two goals in the last five minutes. Nothing like a bit of momentum, eh?

Grimsby are quite partial to a draw and have three in their last four outings which also includes a loss at Bradford on Saturday. With those form lines I think Hartlepool Win/Draw Double Chance could be a goer here and, as they love a 90+ minute goal, we should be in the mix right until the last kick.
