For Saturday night’s football punt we’re diving deep into the international fixtures. In the Euro qualifiers we have Croatia hosting Wales, Spain entertaining Norway and Romania travelling to Andorra and in a Friendly, since they don’t need to qualify as host nation, we have Germany taking on Peru in Mainz.
Plenty of value here in our seven picks, let’s have a look at what we’ve found in the markets.
Andorra v Romania
Romania -1
Romania will be looking to get started in Group I by bagging three points when they face Andorra. The away side recently put five past Moldova and beat Bosnia 4-1 at home last September.
Andorra tend to get a bit of a hiding when they come up against better sides, England and Poland beat them 0-5 and 1-4 in last 2021 and there’s little to suggest they’ve a snowball’s here. Romania should easily win by two clear goals.
Croatia v Wales

Wales had a terrible World Cup, scoring just one goal against the USA, losing 0-2 to Iran and 0-3 to England. However, it’s time now to move past the Gareth Bale era and for a few players to make a name for themselves. Croatia are Group D favourites so it’s going to be between Turkey and Wales to grab second spot.
The Dragons have scored in all six of their most previous away games and Croatia rarely keep a clean sheet, keeping just two over their last 12 on home soil. We should see both scoring but with Croatia coming out on top meaning a minimum of three goals.
Croatia to Win
The talent in this Croatian side is something all small nations look at with jealousy. They had an excellent World Cup, until Argentina ripped them apart in the semifinal, while Wales left Qatar with just a goal to their name.
Wales now must rebuild without Bale while this Croatian team are a well-oiled machine who can take on the best. Hard to see anything other than a home win for Zlatko Dalic’s side.

Spain v Norway

The big news is that Erling Haaland has, again, withdrawn from international duty. Strange how he gets injured just prior to internationals, isn’t it? Roy Keane was the same, there must be something in the water in Manchester.
Spain will have learned a valuable lesson at the World Cup, you don’t win games by out-passing teams, you win them by scoring more goals. This Spanish side, under former U23, U21 and U19 manager Luis de la Fuente, have a point to prove and could potentially finish Group A with full points. We’re likely looking at a 2-1, 3-0 here, so we’re backing Over 2.5 goals.
Alvaro Morata to Score Anytime
Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morate has 10 La Liga goals over 26 appearances this season, as well as two domestic cup goals. Since 2020, he’s scored 17 goals for La Rioja in 34 appearances and has scored in all four of his most recent games for the international side. Should he start here we’d have to back him to get on the scoresheet.
Germany v Peru
Germany -1
Hansi Flick has an interesting job on hand, he’s tasked with rebuilding the German national side after an embarrassing early exit at the World Cup. Here’s the thing; he’s pretty much picked the same players as he brought to Qatar.
They do boast strong home form however, winning six of their last eight on home turf. Peru’s results look decent on paper, winning three of their last five but looking further into the games, when coming up against higher ranked sides, such as Mexico, Uruguay, Brazil and Argentina they’ve been pretty bad. Of course, we cannot forget that Peru play their home games at an altitude of over 4000m and that’s usually why they win on home turf. Germany certainly have the quality and goalscorers to win by at least two goals here.
Both Teams to Score, No
Peru have failed to score in six of their last 10 on the travels and while Germany don’t keep too many clean sheets at home we just cannot see the travelling side scoring with their bad record on their away trips.
