Scotland -1

Considering they find themselves in a group with Spain and Norway, Scotland simply have to beat the likes of Cyprus at home.

Coming off the back of a strong Nations League campaign, Scotland have a good chance of pipping Norway to the second automatic qualification spot in Group A and will be confident of a strong start against the Cypriots.

Scotland have lost just once in their last 16 home games, winning 11 times in that spell.

They won all three of their home games during the Nations League last year, beating Ireland, Ukraine, and Armenia.

Cyprus, on the other hand, were relegated to the bottom tier of the Nations League after winning just one game out of six in a group containing Northern Ireland, Kosovo, and Greece.

Cyprus suffered a 5-1 defeat at Kosovo in their last game and it’s hard to see anything other than a comfortable Scottish win.

John McGinn to Score Anytime

John McGinn has not scored for Aston Villa this season, but he boasts a highly respectable goalscoring record for Scotland.

McGinn scored twice as Scotland topped their Nations League group last year and has scored a respectable eight goals in his last 23 international appearances.

He also scored in Scotland’s most recent international game – a 2-1 friendly defeat in Turkey last November – and is good value to score again on Saturday against a Cyprus defence that conceded an average of two goals per game during the Nations League last season.

McGinn scored the winner when Scotland travelled to Cyprus during their Euro 2020 qualification campaign and he can return to haunt the Cypriots on Saturday.

Che Adams to Have Two or More Shots on Target

Che Adams has scored 10 goals for all competitions for relegation-threatened Southampton this season and will almost certainly feature against Cyprus on Saturday.

Adams averages 1.7 shots per game in the Premier League this season, playing in a Southampton team that manages an average of just 11.6 shots per game.

He also averaged 2.3 shots per game during Scotland’s Nations League campaign last season and will fancy his chances against a Cyprus outfit that faced an average of 15 shots per game during their own Nations League campaign.

He is good value to register at least two shots on target on Saturday.

Over 9.5 Corners

Scotland tend to win a lot of corners at Hampden Park.

In their last six competitive home games, the Scots have won a whopping 50 corners at a rate of over eight per game.

They are likely to dominate possession and territory against Cyprus and it wouldn’t be surprising if they at least matched that average on Saturday.

There is every chance that there will be ten corners or more during Saturday’s qualifier.
