Ireland to Win

Ireland should be able to come away with a relatively comfortable win here. Despite a lot of the mixed opinions since Stephen Kenny’s appointment and subsequent second contract, Ireland have improved with some of the great young talent they have to offer, including Brighton powerhouse Evan Ferguson.

It’s hard to see how Ireland wouldn’t be able to handle a challenge on the level Latvia will be posing.

Over 2.5 Goals

Ireland have seen over two goals in three of their last four games and Latvia have seen two or more goals in seven of their last eight matches. There’s definitely scope in this one for goals, preferably in Ireland’s favour, as they take on a side that sit all the way down in Nations League D.

Both Teams to Score – No

We’re backing a Gavin Bazunu clean sheet, despite him having a very tough season so far at Southampton with them currently sitting at the bottom of the Premier League. However, he is always incredibly solid when donning the Irish jersey.

The fact that he’ll be against opposition of a much lower calibre will definitely help in making this a reality too – with Latvia’s main man up front, Raimond’s Krollis, has scored just three times in 26 caps.

Latvia to Receive the Most Cards

Latvia don’t have the best disciplinary record on the international stage to put it mildly. They’ve had players sent off in their last two games and they’ve also been the most booked side in four of their last six. With Latvia coming into this one as the side that will be facing a lot of continuous attack from the Irish, we’d expect to see them working their way into the book.

Corner Match Bet – Ireland

Another leg we can give to further push the pro-Irish sentiment that’s backed with a bit of data behind it. Here you’re betting on which team gets more corners in the match and Ireland have had the most corners in seven of their last nine games, including games against Belgium, Ukraine and old foes Armenia.

With big men in the box such as Nathan Collins, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see an Irish goal generated from a corner either.

Chiedozie Ogbene to Score Anytime

Chiedozie Ogbene has been a crucial part of Kenny’s sides since first being brought into the national team. Who could forget his bicycle kick against Belgium back in March 2022? With the rise of Michael Obafemi and more recently (and arguably more impressively) the emergence of Ferguson, there’s surely no doubt Ireland will find the back of the net.

But with Ogbene netting seven times this season from a more defensive role at Rotherham, partnered with his pace and work ethic, he’s one man that’s entirely capable of finding himself on the scoresheet.
