Real Madrid v Liverpool, Wednesday 20:00
TV: BT Sport 1
It’s just amazing isn’t it? After beating Manchester United 7-0 at Anfield, Liverpool go and lose 1-0 away to Bournemouth. They were so complacent in that performance, they failed to keep a clean sheet and Mo Salah missed a penalty as well.
But we know there are goals in this team, I mean, not many teams could possibly get seven past United. And, in the first leg, they scored two in fourteen minutes against Real Madrid.
Because of that I think this game is going to have plenty of goals. Do I think Liverpool will win the tie by the required number of goals? It would need to be by a margin of four, so no, I don’t think so. But, I certainly think there’ll be goals in this.
Real Madrid at the weekend beat Espanyol pretty comfortably, winning 3-1 without Karim Benzema but he should feature here against the Reds.
What surprised me about the Espanyol game was they played all of their available big players, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Aurelien Tchouameni, only Benzema was out with illness. So they didn’t rest anyone for that and we’re going to see them putting out their strongest XI here too.
I’m going for a 2-2 draw here.
In the first leg we saw Vinicius Junior scoring a great first goal to get them back in the game and he do so again here. Of course then, he got their second goal too after Alisson’s mistake. He’s already scored five goals against Liverpool over his short career, that’s five goals in four matches.
For Liverpool, I’d have to back Mo Salah to get on the scoresheet too. Of course, he’s on penalties and unfortunately he missed one last weekend, the first he’s missed for Liverpool this season, maybe he was a bit rusty on Saturday but I think he’ll have gotten it out of his system now and we all know just how good Mo is on European nights so I can see him getting himself on the scoresheet here.
