Liverpool will have it all to do if they’re to make it into the quarter finals of the Champions League, sitting 5-2 down on aggregate going into this second leg. Their 7-0 demolition job against Man Utd appears long gone in the rearview mirror after their loss to Bournemouth at the weekend, can they handle the heat in Carlo Ancelotti’s kitchen? We’ll soon see.

Real Madrid to Win

Following on from Liverpool’s confidence rattler at the weekend, it’s hard to see how they’re going to find it in themselves to completely turn the tables against the reigning champions.

Real have been by no means perfect themselves since the first leg, drawing twice, losing once and beating Espanyol at the weekend – but as a side overall, they seem in a much better position to win this game and with the superior firepower in Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema, if available, they should win over the 90 minutes.

Liverpool will have to throw the kitchen sink at Real Madrid, the hosts have conceded in every Champions League game since their 3-0 win over Celtic in match week one of the tournament. Liverpool haven’t failed to score in any of their Champions League fixtures this season. 

Over 3.5 Goals

Liverpool currently sit with a three goal deficit, their only way through is to either score three unanswered goals and hope for penalties or win by four. We’re all fully aware of just how good they can be on their day in their attacking third. The first leg certainly didn’t disappoint, with seven goals scored. In fact, Real Madrid’s last three Champions League games have seen over 3.5 goals in them. In a game that needs goals for Liverpool’s sake, we expect to see them.

Vinicius Junior to Score Anytime

Vinicius Junior has managed to get himself 14 goals for the season so far. In the Champions League he’s managed to net himself six goals in just seven games. With Karim Benzema’s availability in question due to an ankle injury, Vini Jr. will need to step up if Real Madrid are to guarantee themselves a place in the quarter-finals.

Vinicius Junior to have Two or More Shots On Target

In the Champions League this season, Vinicius Jr. has managed to have 15 shots on target in just seven matches. This evens out at over two shots on target per game on average. In a game that could be heavily reliant on his services, and factoring in that on average a player has in the region of three shots on target to one goal scored – it all aligns to suggest Vinicius Jr. should be capable of managing to find the target twice.

Liverpool to Receive the Most Cards

A contentious pick here seeing as the last game only saw two bookings, one from each side. However, Liverpool will be in desperation mode and be more willing to take risks in order to slow Madrid down, and prevent counter attacks. They’ve had fifty six bookings across all competitions in just thirty nine total games this season and more total bookings than Real Madrid in the Champions League.
