This one is finely poised after Manchester City and RB Leipzig played out a 1-1 draw last week.
Leipzig didn’t surprise me as I thought they’d give City a game. They’re third in the Bundesliga following their 3-0 win against Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend. Leipzig are just seven points behind Bayern and five points off Borussia Dortmund in second.
City struggled to beat Crystal Palace on Saturday night and they needed Erling Haaland’s penalty to get over the line in a 1-0 win. Pep Guardiola’s men are now unbeaten in their last eight and they’ve kept three clean sheets in a row.
I can’t see Leipzig causing them too many problems. It was different in front of their home fans in Germany but it’s another story on the road in the Champions League.
City look like they’re starting one of those runs that has led them to titles so I’m backing them to shut out Leipzig. I’m siding with a comfortable City win at the Etihad and I fancy them to win 2-0.
As for a goalscorer, who else but Erling Haaland?
He netted the winner in City’s win at Palace on Saturday to take his tally to 34 goals for the season.
He’s been sensation since joining Guardiola’s side and we know he’s dominated against German opposition in the past from his time in the Bundesliga.
