Here we bloody go, folks. Four blockbuster days of the best action across the Cheltenham Festival. If you’re a shrewdie, you’ve your phone on airplane mode.

If you haven’t a clue what you’re at, you’re wondering why you can’t get through to your local shrewdie, and if you’re somewhere in between, you’re simply just out there to enjoy the spectacle of it all.

Along with big-time action on the track, there’s some juicy action off it too and we’ve picked our punts for both in this tasty acca.

El Fabiolo to Win the Arkle

This very much is a two-runner race despite the nonsense you’ll hear in the background about Dysart Dynamo getting it handy from the front or Saint Roi picking up the pieces late.

There’s this real attempt to be a smart type by suggesting we don’t know how close Dysart Dynamo would have gotten to Constitution Hill if he’d stayed up in the Supreme last year. In the same breath, these people are suggesting that the winner of said Supreme is the best racehorse they’ve seen in their lives. That chat is best-avoided.

Now, the Irish Arkle is not only the best piece of form available to us here, but the British Horseracing Authority have also got El Fabiolo clear on ratings, and while some say that race might have taken its mark, there’s no guarantee that Jonbon having to be shaken up to beat bloody Calico wasn’t a bit of a setback for him, either.

Essentially, over fences, one of these has beaten Grade One horses and the other has touched off a lit-up Boothill around Sandown in December. Don’t be a wally.

Man City v RB Leipzig – Benjamin Henrichs to be Booked

It’s like typecast at this rate. Man City spend billions only to be handed a really easy draw in the last sixteen yet somehow still manage to be off the boil and make the second leg somewhat competitive.

I don’t understand how they do this, but the result in Germany at least means this is a live contest. A lot of City fans were aggrieved by the decision not to award a penalty late in the day for a supposed handball against Benjamin Henrichs.

Well it seems it’s the only foul not given against him in his career because he’s a hatchet man. Only two players have picked up more bookings in the Bundesliga this season than he has, and teams trying to unsettle Man City generally foul them explicitly. Benjamin Henrichs to be Shown a Card seems a good bet to me.

Porto v Inter – Inter to Win

The reason Porto tend to struggle somewhat in big games in Europe is because they have it so handy domestically. It’s always the way. Look at the nations represented in the last four of the Champions League over the last while and note the lack of diversity.

And while Porto do have live competition in Portugal to some degree, they make Bayern Munich look like a midtable unit when you compare the gap between the top and bottom teams in the Portuguese top tier.

What Inter are best at is breaking and getting balls into the box quickly. As Porto once again fail to understand that they can’t dictate play against teams with better players, they’ll end up being beaten comfortably while they chase a deficit. The Italians will get the job done.

Middlesbrough v Stoke – Middlesbrough to Win

The Championship is actually won on midweek fixtures. I cannot emphasise this enough. This journey on a Tuesday evening is horrific, especially when you consider Boro themselves have the best home defensive record in the division.

And while both teams have won their last two, Stoke haven’t done so in a sustainable fashion. They stunned Sunderland by netting five and then won a five-goal shootout against Blackburn despite being three-nil up.

Thou shalt not net midweek in Middlesbrough. Or something more prophetic.
