Athletic Bilbao v Barcelona

Sunday, 20:00
TV: Viaplay Sports

Both teams to score? No

Barcelona may have struggled defensively in Europe this season, but their defensive record in La Liga has been nothing short of impeccable.

Xavi’s side have conceded just eight goals in 24 league games this season at a rate of one goal in every three games.

Unsurprisingly, they boast the best defensive record in Spain by a distance.

They have kept 18 clean sheets in 24 games this season and have kept seven clean sheets in 10 league games since returning from the World Cup.

Athletic Bilbao, on the other hand, boast a moderate attacking record of 33 goals in 24 games – the fourth-best attacking record in the top half – but it is hard to see them scoring against such a resolute Barcelona defence.

Robert Lewandowski to Score Anytime

Robert Lewandowski has missed Barcelona’s last two games through injury but should be ready to return to the starting line-up on Sunday evening.

The Polish striker has scored an impressive 15 goals in 19 La Liga starts this season but has slowed down considerably since returning from the World Cup.

Lewandowski has scored six goals in all competitions since the World Cup, with five of those six goals coming away from the Nou Camp.

He scored in the 4-0 demolition of Athletic Bilbao earlier in the season and is good value to do so again on Sunday night.

Juventus vs Sampdoria

Sunday, 19:45
TV: BT Sport 1

Juventus (-1)

Things are starting to look bleak for Sampdoria, who are now nine games without a win and find themselves nine points from safety.

Unsurprisingly, they boast the worst goal difference in Italy, scoring just 11 goals in 25 league games.

Juventus, on the other hand, have responded reasonably well to their 15-point deduction.

They lost to Jose Mourinho’s Roma last time out but had won four games on the spin prior to that and would be sitting in second place were it not for the deduction.

They have also reached the Coppa Italia semi-final and have one foot in the Europa League quarter-finals following a 1-0 win over Freiburg on Thursday night.

It’s hard to see anything but a comfortable home win on Sunday.

Over 2.5 Sampdoria Cards

Not only are Sampdoria rock bottom of Serie A, but they also boast the worst disciplinary record in the division.

Sampdoria have received 78 yellow cards and one red card in 25 Serie A games at a rate of more than three per game.

They are the only team in the league to average more than three cards per game and seem particularly prone to yellow cards on their travels, collecting 17 yellow cards in five games since the World Cup.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see them pick up at least three yellow cards on Sunday night.

Marseille vs Strasbourg

Sunday, 19:45
TV: BT Sport 2

Over 2.5 Goals

Marseille currently find themselves eight points off PSG in the French title race, but they are still in pole position to claim a Champions League place.

They need to keep winning games in the event that PSG suffer a post-Champions League hangover and should have little problems doing so against Strasbourg at home.

Marseille have scored a respectable 49 goals in 26 games at a rate of almost two per game, which is the third-best attacking record in France.

They will hope to score at least twice against a Strasbourg side that has conceded 44 goals in the league this season – the seventh-worst defensive record in France.

Strasbourg have not kept an away clean sheet all season and are unlikely to do so on Sunday night.

Marseille, on the other hand, have not kept a clean sheet in five home league games since the World Cup and may offer Strasbourg chances.

There should be goals on Sunday night.
