Premier League Predictions: Lawro fancies Man City, Man Utd & Arsenal wins

Lawro triumphed last week and he's back for more.

Mark Lawrenson's Premier League betting predictions

The weekend is upon us once more with some juicy games on the horizon, kicking off with Liverpool heading to Bournemouth on a high off the back of their 7-0 demolition of Manchester United last Sunday.

The Red Devils themselves will be looking to get back on track at home to lowly Southampton while their cross-town rivals Manchester City head to the capital to take on Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.

With another packed schedule to get our head around, we thought it was only right to bring in our resident tipster and Premier League predicting guru, Mark Lawrenson. Take it away, Lawro…

Saturday 12.30pm: Bournemouth v Liverpool

TV: BT Sport

Liverpool just need to win this by hook or by crook and then a good run of form can take effect. They just looked so much better against Manchester United. It was a freak result but they thoroughly deserved it. They’ve started keeping clean sheets and that’s the most important thing. Bournemouth were on the brink of a mad result against Arsenal but they’re going down, you can’t conceded that many goals. Bournemouth 0-2 Liverpool.

RESULT: Bournemouth 1-0 Liverpool

Saturday 3pm: Everton v Brentford

Everton are conceding a few but they scored two last time and they’ve been struggling to score in general so it’s a strange one and they buckled towards the end in that 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest. Brentford are very similar in style, they’re an updated Everton, really. They’re really physical, they get the ball forward early, but I think Everton will beat them. There’s a positivity there and it’s a tough gig going to Goodison. Everton 2-1 Brentford.

RESULT: Everton 1-0 Brentford

Saturday 3pm: Leeds v Brighton

Brighton are running amok at the moment, they had such a good result thumping West Ham 4-0. Leeds got beat by Chelsea and I think the only shot at goal was from the goalkeeper! That’s not a good stat. You just sense under Javi Gracia that they’re a little bit different now. Leeds 1 Brighton 1.

RESULT: Leeds 2-2 Brighton

Saturday 3pm: Leicester v Chelsea

Chelsea have won the last two and it just seems like Graham Potter is finally starting to get a little bit of luck to go with it. I think Chelsea will win this. All’s not well at Leicester, they’ve made a massive, massive loss off the pitch and that’s probably why they’ve not signed anybody. It’s not nice conditions to play in when you’re thinking the manager might go and we might have to sell our best players. Leicester 0-2 Chelsea.

RESULT: Leicester 1-3 Chelsea

Saturday 3pm: Tottenham v Nottingham Forest

Spurs were awful against AC Milan but they’ll beat Nottingham Forest. You know they will because it’s the Tottenham way. I can’t see Forest causing them too many problems. But you look at Spurs and you think, ‘What the hell’s going on?’ On paper they’ve got a good side but Antonio Conte won’t be there next season and the players know that. Tottenham 2-0 Nottingham Forest.

RESULT: Tottenham 3-1 Nottingham Forest

Saturday 5.30pm: Crystal Palace v Manchester City

TV: Sky Sports

Crystal Palace are a bit all over the place and I thought Manchester City won pretty easily against Newcastle. If they had needed another goal I think they would have got one. Pep Guardiola took off Kevin De Bruye and one or two others and they were cruising. An easy City win. Crystal Palace 0-2 Manchester City.

RESULT: Crystal Palace 0-1 Manchester City

Sunday 2pm: Fulham v Arsenal

TV: Sky Sports

You could argue that Arsenal beating Bournemouth 3-2 was the best result of the season. To be 2-0 down and ending up winning at the end with a goal like that. Fulham are very, very competitive as we know but I just think Arsenal will have too much for them. Fulham 1-2 Arsenal.

RESULT: Fulham 0-3 Arsenal

Sunday 2pm: Manchester United v Southampton

I think everyone’s on probation at Manchester United now, that’s the way that it feels, especially the captain Bruno Fernandes who was a disgrace against Liverpool. But it’s Southampton so Erik ten Hag can change the team. Manchester United 2-0 Southampton.

RESULT: Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Sunday 2pm: West Ham v Aston Villa

I’ll go for West Ham in a tight game. I know the owners are very much behind David Moyes so I’ll have them to just win against Aston Villa who are very well organised. West Ham 2-1 Aston Villa.

RESULT: West Ham 1-1 Villa

Sunday 4.30pm: Newcastle v Wolves

TV: Sky Sports

As good as their run was at the start of the season, this is as poor now. It’s come at the wrong time with the Carabao Cup final defeat thrown into their poor form. They were competitive at Manchester City and had chances. Wolves beat Tottenham 1-0 last week but I’ll go with the home advantage. I think Alexander Isak will start because he looked lively last week so I think Eddie Howe will probably chuck him into the side. Newcastle 2-1 Wolves.

RESULT: Newcastle 2-1 Wolves

LAWRO V PUNTER CHALLENGE

So, you’ve heard what Mark Lawrenson has to say, but can this week’s Paddy Power punter take down our game-guessing guru with their Premier League predictions?

If you don’t know what we’re talking about, where have you been? Every Premier League gameweek we’re putting up at least £/€50 – more if there’s a rollover – to anyone who can outsmart Lawro in guessing the outcome of that week’s games. All the rules are here, but in a nutshell it’s three points for a correct score, and one point for a correct result. Simples.

There’s £/€150 up for grabs this week as Lawro saw off Anthony the Plymouth fan comprehensively with a 9-4 victory last weekend. So, who’s stepping into the lion’s den this week? Well, it’s our good friend Matt the Ipswich fan from Felixstowe in Suffolk and here’s their view.

Bournemouth 0-2 Liverpool

Everton 1-1 Brentford

Leeds 1-1 Brighton

Leicester 1-1 Chelsea

Tottenham 2-1 Nottingham Forest

Crystal Palace 0-2 Manchester City

Fulham 2-2 Arsenal

Manchester United 3-0 Southampton

West Ham 1-1 Aston Villa

Newcastle 1-1 Wolves

RESULTS

Mark Lawrenson’s run of red-hot form continues after a thumping 11-7 win this weekend. Two correct scores in the Newcastle v Wolves and Leeds v Brighton games helped him to his double-digit total, with our challenger Matt unable to keep up. That means £/€200 is up for grabs next weekend for anyone who can fell Lawro.
