We’ve got five 3pm kick-offs on Saturday this week and there’s plenty on the line at both ends of the table. If Manchester City beat Newcastle in the early kick-off, Arsenal will want to reinstate their five-point lead, while four of the bottom six are in action too.

Add in that Graham Potter surely won’t keep his job if Chelsea lose to their historic rivals Leeds and we’ve got storylines galore. Let’s see if we can make a little money on them.

Arsenal v Bournemouth – Arsenal (-1)

TV: Premier Sports 1

This game comes in the middle of a hard run for the Cherries, who lost 4-1 at home to Manchester City last weekend and host Liverpool next week. Although no team has lost more Premier League matches by at least three goals this season, they have only suffered one such defeat since their opening game of 2023.

Their problem with an eye on this fixture is that four of their five such losses have occurred against the top three, with Arsenal winning 3-0 at the Vitality Stadium back in August. Remember Scott Parker and his weird suit? Great days.

The Gunners have been very strong at home in 2022/23, only dropping points once to a team from outside the top six. They should roll over Bournemouth and win by two-or-more easily enough. If this wasn’t such a tight turnaround from their Everton victory, it’d be tempting to push a higher mark. As it is, we’ll take Arsenal (-1) in the Alternative Handicaps.

Aston Villa v Crystal Palace – Over 2.5 Goals

Villa Park hosts our one fully mid-table skirmish of the afternoon, with 11th hosting 12th. However, Crystal Palace are winless in eight, the longest current streak in the division, with Aston Villa having been one of the division’s stronger teams in that period.

As Palace host City next, a victory here would obviously be most welcome. Their last win at Villa Park was so long ago that Dwight Gayle scored the winner, though if you told me he was still with the Eagles I might believe you.

Whatever the outcome on Saturday, these teams bring goals out of each other. Both teams have scored in the last four meetings, while four of the last five have paid out on Over 2.5 Goals. Paddy’s odds are better for the latter so we’ll add that to our coupon.

Brighton v West Ham – Alexis Mac Allister To Score Or Assist

You will not find a player who is more due a goal in the Premier League than Alexis Mac Allister. Since the small matter of winning the World Cup and assisting one of the best goals you’ll ever see in a final, the Argentine has amassed more expected goals without scoring than any other player in the division.

He hasn’t been repeatedly missing the target either, with goalkeepers making a combined eight saves from him across Brighton’s last four matches. Mac Allister broke the deadlock the last time these teams met too, so we’ll back him to score or assist against the Hammers.

Chelsea v Leeds – Under 2.5 Goals

Ah man, what to say here? Many of Chelsea’s recent attacking performances have been decent enough, they just haven’t been able to find the banjo, much less hit a cow’s arse with it.

They have won their last five games against Leeds at Stamford Bridge, albeit only two of those clashes have been in the last 18 years. But can you trust them to win this time? I’m just not sure I can.

This looks destined to be low scoring. Only one of the Whites’ last six league games has featured more than two goals and that was the outcome in their FA Cup loss at Fulham in midweek too. With Chelsea similarly goal-light they will probably win 5-0 to spite me, but assuming normal service remains, back Under 2.5 Goals.

Wolves v Tottenham – Tottenham Win or Draw

Our final game sees a meeting of two teams who were beaten on the road on Wednesday night. Wolves lost 2-0 at Anfield while Tottenham fell 1-0 to Sheffield United in the FA Cup.

Tottenham are on a strange run at the moment. They are very capable of conceding four goals after taking the lead, as they did at Manchester City and Leicester, while also showing they can beat City and Chelsea in big games at home.

But after their cup exit, Antonio Conte or the other fella will want to see a reaction. Wolves have the fourth worst home record in the division and have won none of their last five Molineux meetings with Spurs, but Tottenham can’t be relied upon at present, particularly away from home.

We’ll take a Double Chance on Spurs/Draw to round off our Bet Builder. Please don’t let us down, you erratic madmen.
