Copa Del Rey semi-finals, first leg
Thursday 8pm: Real Madrid v Barcelona
TV: BT Sport 1
Real Madrid to win
Barcelona’s season is currently threatening to unravel. Dumped out of the Europa League by Manchester United and suffering their first league defeat since before the World Cup, it has been a week to forget for Xavi’s side.
It could get even worse if they suffer defeat in their Copa del Rey semi-final, first leg at the Bernabeu on Thursday night. Real Madrid, on the other hand, have shown resilience in the last week, coming from two goals down to beat Liverpool 5-2 at Anfield in the Champions League before rescuing a late draw against Atletico Madrid in the league.
They are currently seven points off Barcelona in La Liga, but the race is far from over and a win in the cup may further unsettle their bitter rivals. Barcelona have struggled against every elite team they have faced this season, failing to beat Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, or Manchester United in Europe. They also lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the league last October.
Real Madrid have won six of their last eight games against Barcelona and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them make it seven out of nine on Thursday night. It’s got to be Real Madrid to Win.
Vinicius Jr. to Score Anytime
It’s hard to look past Vinicius Jr. Scoring Anytime at present. The Brazilian forward has developed a knack for scoring goals in big games, scoring twice in Real’s demolition of Liverpool at Anfield.
He also scored two goals in the recent Club World Cup final and is currently Real Madrid’s joint top goalscorer in all competitions alongside Karim Benzema. Vinicius has scored in each of Real Madrid’s last two games in the Copa del Rey and is excellent value to make it three games on the bounce on Thursday night.

Gavi to be Shown a Card
For an 18-year-old, Gavi has earned quite a reputation as a s**thouse. The Spanish midfielder has picked up more bookings than any other Barcelona player this season, picking up eight yellow cards in 31 games.
He also commits by far the most fouls of any Barcelona player, committing an average of 2.3 fouls per game. Robert Lewandowski, who has committed the second-most fouls per game, boasts an average of just 1.3 fouls per game. Gavi is not afraid to throw his weight around and is by far the most likely player to pick up a booking on Thursday.
Rodrygo to Have 2 or More Shots on Target
Barcelona boast the best defensive record in La Liga, conceding just eight goals in 23 games. However, that has gone out the window when they have faced Europe’s elite.
Xavi’s side have conceded 17 goals in eight games against Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Manchester United, while they have also faced a significant number of shots on target in those games. Most recently, United recorded a total of 10 shots on target in their two games against them in the Europa League.
Real Madrid are, therefore, likely to land a number of shots on target in Thursday night’s Copa del Rey clash. Rodrygo, who averages 2.9 shots per game for Real this season, is good value to test Marc Andre Ter Stegen in the Barcelona goal on at least two occasions.
Only Karim Benzema has attempted more shots per game than the Brazilian forward for Real Madrid this season. So, we’ll sign off with Rodrygo to Have 2 or More Shots on Target on Thursday night.
