Wednesday night’s football has us prowling for value in the FA Cup matches where Sheffield United host Spurs at Bramall Lane and Carabao Cup winners Manchester United face West Ham. Burnley lay out the red carpet for Fleetwood Town while kicking us off we have Southampton taking on League Two’s Grimsby.
Southampton v Grimsby – Both Teams to Score
TV: ITV 4 (7:15pm)
Do Southampton really need a cup run when they’re struggling for Premier League survival? Well, they won three and another on penalties of their six League Cup games this season and they could certainly do with giving their fans a lift. They’ve very short odds to advance past League Two’s Grimsby here and the Mariners will take plenty of confidence from the fact that the Saints have conceded in all but one of their 16 home games this season.
The visitors have won one, drawn two and lost two of their last five, scoring five and conceding six and on their excursions have won two, drawn two and lost two, scoring eight and conceding 10. Southampton have scored five and conceded five over their last five at St Mary’s so the best value here is in backing both teams to get on the scoresheet.
Burnley v Fleetwood – Burnley -1
TV: BBC iPlayer/Red Button (7:30pm)
Vincent Kompany’s Burnley are powering towards the Premier League and have now gone unbeaten over their last 14 fixtures. At Turf Moor they’re yet to lose this season and of their last five have won four and drawn one, scoring 12 while conceding just three.
Fleetwood are in decent shape it must be said, winning five of their last six in all competitions, drawing the other one. On their travels they’ve won two, drawn two and lost one, scoring six and conceding three. Tempting to go with a BTTS bet here but the hosts have kept five clean sheets over their last 10 on home soil and with them scoring 12 over their last five they should emerge victorious here by at least two goals.

Man United v West Ham – Marcus Rashford to Score Anytime
TV: ITV 1 (7:45pm)
Of course Marcus Rashford scored a goal in United’s 2-0 win over Newcastle at Wembley on Sunday. Since the World Cup, Rashford has scored 17 goals over United’s 19 matches. The England forward has a decent record against the Hammers over his career, scoring five in 17.
In such fine form of late and in facing a side who’ve conceded eight over their last seven away games we have to have a nibble on Rashford’s odds to score here.
Sheffield United v Spurs – Son Heung-Min to Score Anytime
TV: BBC One (7:55pm)
Spurs’ South Korean forward Son Heung-Min hasn’t returned the tally of Premier League goals expected of him this season with five goals over 23 appearances. However, his cup tally of four over nine has been impressive. He’s starting to pick up more goals of late too, scoring three over his last six for Antonio Conte’s side while on the road he’s contributed two over his last five as well.
The Blades are in good form, they’ve won four of their last five at Bramall Lane, losing the other one while Spurs have won two on the bounce, beating both West Ham and Chelsea 2-0 following their away defeat to AC Milan in the Champions League. The hosts will be eager to keep Harry Kane quiet here and the opportunity is ripe for Son to sneak in and grab a goal here adding to his cup tally for the season.
