Sunday, February 12: 4.30pm: Man City v Aston Villa
TV: Sky Sports

Erling Haaland to Have Three or More Shots on Target

Erling Haaland has been so prolific in front of goal that there is no value in backing him to score anytime anymore. It would have been unheard to get odds as short as 1/2 for a player to score anytime before Haaland came along, but he is decent value to hit the target three times on Sunday afternoon.

Haaland averages 3.7 shots per game in the league this season, which is among the highest averages in the division. He is also at his most dangerous at the Etihad, with 18 of his 25 league goals this season coming on home turf.

City have struggled since the return of club football after Christmas, collecting just 13 points from a possible 21, but they have managed 34 shots on target in seven games at a rate of almost five per match.

It would not be at all surprising if they at least matched that average here and it would be equally unsurprising if Haaland was responsible for at least three of those efforts.

Manuel Akanji to Attempt 90 or More Passes

City will dominate the ball against Villa on Sunday, there is no doubt about that. Pep Guardiola’s side average 65.4% possession in the Premier League this season and have recorded 56% or greater in each of their last five home games in the league, recording 70% or more in three of those games.

Villa have been better on the ball since the arrival of Unai Emery and will make it difficult for City to control possession like they have done in previous home games, but they should still enjoy the lion’s share.

Manuel Akanji, therefore, is likely to attempt a significant number of passes out of the back. The Swiss defender completes an average of 76 passes per game in the league this season, attempting an average of 81 passes per game. That figure is likely to rise against Villa for all the reasons listed above.

Boubacar Kamara to Commit Two or More Fouls

Boubacar Kamara has proved a shrewd acquisition for Villa since his arrival in the summer as a free transfer. However, the French midfielder is prone to committing a few fouls.

Kamara averages 1.4 per game in the league this season, the second-highest average of any Villa player and the highest of any that has played five games or more. Considering their midfield is likely to be stretched at various times, Kamara is likely to better his season average and is good value to do so.

Under 9.5 Corners

Manchester City have one of the highest corner averages in the league, winning 6.3 per game throughout the league season. However, they also concede by far the fewest corners in the division, conceding just 2.3 per game.

They are unlikely to concede many against a Villa side that averages 3.9 corners per game, especially considering Villa are unlikely to have the possession or territory to win a significant number of corners.

City may win enough on their own to reach the 10 mark, but they have only averaged five corners per game since the return of club football in December.
