West Ham and the Draw
Despite spending six-hundred-and-forty-million-Great-British-pounds on mere human beings in the last six months, Chelsea Football Club are as close to bottom as they are to second in the Premier League table.
And yet there’s an air of optimism around the place. That’s not really due to the stability – it’s more the opposite. Nobody quite knows what’s going to happen or how many more minutes their eccentric owner is going to give Graham Potter the reins for.
Meanwhile, West Ham have gone the total opposite way. They’re managed by a bloke who’s seen more football than the centre circle down the local astro; they’ve returned to type – being incredibly inconsistent and have regressed from exotic signings to classic Premier League reliables like Danny Ings.
Potter has been the hero his whole life – transforming middling clubs into contenders through clever coaching and promoting belief within squads that earn about ten per cent of what his current one does. This was done through expansive, stylistically-pleasant football, hence why he got a big job: an Englishman deemed progressive in an approach to anything.
But since the pressure was turned up by the spend, he’s gone back to status quo: keeping the ball and trying very hard not to give away soft goals. The issue now is that his over-emphasis is more likely to paralyse his squad who are used to carrying the ball. Everything is safe and nothing is productive. This gives West Ham a chance.
Under 2.5 Goals
The easiest leg of the lot? As well as the above, Chelsea’s last 13 league games have seen the over land just once – a 2-1 loss away to Fulham which was opened up by a red card.
But it takes two to tango in that regard. West Ham themselves are prone to caginess now – with David Moyes knowing if he limits the amount of chances he’s giving away, there’s enough class in the squad to pick up the required points.
Only one of their last five Premier League games has seen three or more goals, too. That was the madcap 2-2 draw with Leeds.

Thiago Silva to Attempt 90 or More Passes
The rock at the back for the Blues, Silva is the man tasked with keeping it simple and retaining possession.
There have been twelve instances of a player attempting 90 or more passes this season for the Blues in the league – six of them have been by the Brazilian.
Three of those six have come in the last six weeks, too.
Joao Felix to Have Two or More Shots on Target
When you bring in a player like Felix who was absolutely brilliant on debut, you wheel him back out at the earliest convenience.
His red card was rash but given how lethargic Chelsea have looked in front of goal, they’re in dire need of a spark and everything will go through him as he tries to make amends at a club who really don’t tolerate those instances.
Expect him to shoot on sight.
