Wednesday night is chockablock with some absolute football royalty in action. In France, Marseille face PSG in the Last 16 of the Coupe de France while a little earlier we have one of the fiercest rivalries in English football being hosted at Old Trafford when Man United host Leeds. We also have an FA Cup replay when Sunderland entertain Fulham but kicking us off we have CAF winners Al Ahly taking on Champions League winners Real Madrid in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Al Ahly v Real Madrid

Streaming: FIFA+ (7pm)

Over 2.5 Goals

Egyptian side Al Ahly have played two games already in the FIFA Club World Cup, beating New Zealand’s Auckland City and the MLS’ Seattle Sounder over the last week. They’re in good form, winning 11 of their last 15 fixtures, drawing the other four.

Real have won two, drawn two (winning one in Extra Time) and lost one over their last five respective matches, scoring seven while conceding just two. There’s little doubt Real will win here with their quality in the side but the Egyptians could make a dent and we see this one finishing 1-2, 1-3 or 0-3 so we’re going to go with Over 2.5 goals here.

Sunderland v Fulham

TV: BBC One, iPlayer (7.45pm)

Over 2.5 Goals

Sunderland played out a 1-1 draw against Fulham just over a week ago meaning they have another chance at taking a Premier League scalp on home soil. The Black Cats have won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five while at the Stadium of Light have won three and lost two of their last five, scoring nine while conceding six.

The Cottagers have won just one of their last four games, drawing two and losing two but had won all five previous matches. Their away form is quite good with three games won, one drawn and one lost, scoring six and conceding just one. Hard to see them keeping a clean sheet against a side scoring so many here and with four of Sunderland’s last five home games seeing at least three goals we’re getting plenty of value in backing Over 2.5 goals here.

Bruno Fernandes, 2022/23

Man United v Leeds

TV: Sky Sports Premier League (8pm)

Over 2.5 Goals

These sides will face each other two times in four days in the Premier League and it’s the hosts who are obviously in the better shape. The Red Devils have won four and lost one of their last five in all competitions, winning three, drawing one and losing one in their last five league outings. At Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag’s side have gone nine unbeaten in the league, winning eight and drawing one, scoring 12 over their last five while conceding just two.

Leeds have won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five fixtures but their league form has been mediocre at best, drawing three and losing two while on their away trips have won one, drawn one and lost three, scoring six and conceding eight. With those scoring stats we’re backing seeing at least three goals here.

Man United -1

United’s form can’t really be argued with, ten Hag’s got this team purring now and it looks like they’re going to get even better as they’re due to face three other bottom seven teams over the coming weeks. They’re in good goal-scoring form at home too and they should win this one by two clear goals.

MORE TIPS: Don’t expect a new manager bounce tonight! Here’s our 21/1 Man Utd v Leeds Bet Builder Tips

Marseille v PSG

(8.10pm)

Over 3.5 Goals

Four of the last eight meetings between the sides at the Stade Velodrome have seen at least four goals scored. We’ve also seen at least four goals scored in four of PSG’s last five on their travels of late. Marseille have been in the goals recently too, scoring eight over their last five on home turf while the Parisians have netted a total of 12 over their last five on the road. With both teams in fine goal-scoring nick then we have to go with Over 3.5 goals here.

Lionel Messi to Score Anytime

Much was made of Lionel Messi’s disastrous performance at home to Reims on his return to league football. We all know you shouldn’t poke a bear and Messi responded as Messi usually does, scoring two goals over his two games since. He’s faced Les Phoceens three times since signing for Paris and they’ve done a good job of keeping his quiet so far. We see that changing here and we’re backing him to grab his 16th goal of the season against Marseille.
