Wednesday 8pm: Man United v Nottingham Forest, Carabao Cup
TV: Sky Sports Football
Man United welcome Nottingham Forest to Old Trafford on Wednesday night for the second leg of their League Cup semi-final. The Red Devils have one foot in the final thanks to a 0-3 win at Forest last week. We’ve found the four best bets from the tie for a very handsome Bet Builder.
Over 2.5 Goals
Manchester United all but sealed their place in the League Cup final with a 3-0 win at the City Ground last week and should enjoy a fairly comfortable night on Wednesday night. Forest were unlucky to lose by such a heavy scoreline in last week’s first leg but have almost no chance of overturning a three-goal deficit away from home.
They have lost to United 3-0 on the two occasions that they have played them this season and were comfortably beaten at Old Trafford just after Christmas. United, on the other hand, may take advantage of their comfortable position in the tie to rest some players ahead of an extremely busy schedule in February.
Erik Ten Hag may give some of his fringe players a chance on Wednesday, which could give Forest a chance to at least find the back of the net and give their fans something to cheer about. United have scored a minimum of two goals in each of their last eight games at Old Trafford and there is nothing to suggest that they won’t do it again on Wednesday.
Wout Weghorst to Score Anytime
Wout Weghorst bagged his first United goal in last week’s win over Forest and it wouldn’t be surprising if he grabbed his second on Wednesday night. The Dutch striker is not the answer to United’s problems up front, but he is a useful option to have, especially for games such as these.
Weghorst will almost certainly start on Wednesday, giving Ten Hag the opportunity to rest more important players ahead of Saturday’s league game against Crystal Palace. The 30-year-old managed more shots in last week’s first leg against Forest than he has managed in his other three appearances for United combined and should flourish again against a side that has conceded the second-most goals in the Premier League this season.

Ryan Yates to be Shown a Card
Ryan Yates missed last week’s first leg through illness but should be in contention to start at Old Trafford. Yates excelled in the league meeting at Old Trafford and would be a significant addition to Forest’s midfield on Wednesday night.
However, the Forest midfielder doesn’t boast the best disciplinary record. Yates averages 2.1 fouls per game, by far the most of any Forest player, while his record of four yellow cards in the Premier League is the second-highest of any Forest player. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him pick up another card on Wednesday.
Brennan Johnson to have 1 or More Shots on Target
United may have won both encounters with Forest by a comfortable three-goal margin but Forest weren’t short of chances in either game. Steve Cooper’s side had a handful of decent chances in each game and are likely to have chances again on Wednesday, especially if Ten Hag rotates his side.
Brennan Johnson is Forest’s top scorer this season with six goals in all competitions and has looked by far their most dangerous player since the turn of the year. He averages 1.6 shots per game and is good value to test David De Gea at least once on Wednesday night.
